I am going a week to greece with my job in september. For now i have told them that im not going, since i really dont know who can take care of Prop while im gone. Her numbers are great, but no one i know wish to test bg. I migth get my mom to do the shots, but im not sure she wants to. But if i go, is it posible to pull the insulin in the syringe for a week in advance? Prop get such a small dose and i would be afraid my mom or a sitter wouldnt get the right dose?

With Levemir you can because of its neutral base. With Lantus you can't because of its acidic base.

Have fun in Greece and we want lots of pictures when you get back. :-D

Thanks Mel.Well lets see if im going, kind of a controlfreak, having so much trouble leaving her care to someone else.

I thought levemir and lantus was pretty much the same. Should I just leve the prefilled syringes in the fridge?

Yep just recap the needles and leave them in the fridge. They're similar insulins in that their depot insulins. But Levemir usually has a later onset and a later nadir. And their action in the body is slightly different. There's an excellent stickie on the differences between the two over on the Tight Regulation Forum.

I hear ya I'm a control freak over both of mine. Lol
