? Going away for the night

Not sure if I'm suppose to post here but... DH and I are going away for the night. Next month should I skip dose. Or have my pet sitter come in? do I decrease dose for that night? not sure what to do.

Usually when I’m going out of town, people here tell me to post a few days before I’m leaving, because the dose can change so much between now and when you go on your trip, so it’s hard to decide on a dose so far in advance, when things are always changing with diabetic kitties.

I always have a pet sitter or my mom come for the pre-shot, feeding, and insulin, even if I’m only going to be gone for one night. If you have someone that can come test BG at AMPS or PMPS, feed Molly and give a reduced dose of insulin, that’s what I would do! It will definitely be a reduced dose but it’s hard to say what that dose will be this far in advance. I would definitely post again like this, 3 days before you leave to get advice on a reduced dose and then start that reduced dose so that Molly has the reduced dose for two days BEFORE you leave. I hope this helps, I’m sure others will chime in!

Ok I always look to plan well far in advance . I'll ask the question a week before we leave. Thank you :)

I know, I’m the same. I’m a major planner so it’s hard for me too! I’m going a trip 2/29-3/3 so I will have a pet sitter coming for AMPS and PMPS, but I’m already thinking of a reduced dose, even though it’s still three weeks away! I’ve gone out of town 3 or 4 times I think since Blaze was diagnosed, and I’m always told I’m posting too early to figure out a reduced dose and to wait until three days before you know you’re leaving :arghh:

Nice that you can get away - everywhere we go, we take Luci along...so we don't go very much...it's a lot to load her and all her stuff up to go somewhere overnight...but it can be done :)
