    Hi Everybody,

Thanks for all the great coaching! I figured out what I was doing wrong.

I'm using the little lancet machine. The thing I was doing wrong was pulling the machine off, away from his ear, too quickly after the stick. I have found if I wait a few seconds, there is always blood.

We are doing so much better at this, that today I am going to start taking mid-day readings too. Both Squeaky and I are calm PLUS he gets some beef sirloin after it's over. That makes everything better.

Thanks everyone. I also now have 5 people that I can call for advice. You all warm my heart, to be helping us out, in such a world, at such a time.

    Best wishes,
    Jan

Can't you though? Wow. Now, I just have to tackle three days of dirty dishes in the sink. LOL.

Awesome news, Jan. So good of you to post here what you were doing "wrong" to help other folks too.

If the beef sirloin as treats gets expensive... try bonito flakes (and don't buy them as a cat treat... get them from an asian grocery or compare to the price on Amazon). There was a company that packaged bonito flakes as cat treats and it was 5x more expensive than buying a bag to use for myself... And Cosmo loved them too.

Yah, that's the idea, helping others. :)

Thanks for the tip. I've long ago gotten over the idea that anything related to this cat would not be expensive. He can't eat fish. Actually I got the sirloin on sale, it was about the lowest price on beef in the store. However, beef is what he wants to eat right now, what's a mom to do? LOL.

Oh hey, he saw the sirloin and he was purring when I picked him up for his mid-cycle ear test. Continued purring during the massage, stopped when I let him smell the lancing device. But we did well together. Had to do 2 pricks because of E13. Do you think it was genuine purring or stress purring? Thanks.

Another option is freeze dried chicken. However get them from the dog treat section of your pet store instead of the cat treat section. You get more for your money that way.
