Glucose test strips issue

Anyone else have an issue with test strips being shipped in warm/hot weather?
I am worried about it affecting their accuracy.
I Have strips that were sent to the wrong facility, and will likely spend another day or two in hot trucks, before they get here. I can only imagine how hot the delivery trucks get. I am wrong to think test strips sensitive to temperature should be shipped with better controls?
 
I notice a lot of reviews (mostly on Amazon) complaining about faulty strips, it occurred to me, that some of this may be due to prolonged shipping periods in hot/cold trucks...I guess I am wondering how reliable Chewy is? Since Amazon just sent my test strips to the wrong location, meaning days longer in hot trucks, I don't want to order from Chewy, only for the same result.

Unfortunately, AlphaTrak 2 strips are not available in stores, online only.

I work in a lab, and am fairly familiar with how this type of test works, since they are an enzyme-based test, sensitive to temperature, any length of time in temps above 104F can affect their accuracy. A truck can easily exceed that temperature on a hot day. I see Zoetis taking the hit for quality control in numerous online reviews, but I wonder if it is their fault?
I am very surprised these go through normal shipping.
 
You can get the test solution for alphatrack and test the strips before you use them. Do you happen to have it already? I was told to always test the first strip of a new batch to make sure they’re accurate. If you get a result outside the normal range you can contact Amazon and request a refund

That is the plan, but that won't prevent strips that test faulty/won't read, which is apparently a problem for quite a few people. One review stated that they had to go through ten faulty strips before one worked, and were understandably upset at having to prick their dog that many times. It just amazes me how none of these places offer quicker shipping for a temperature-sensitive product, not even ADW Diabetes, which specializes in diabetes supplies.

I’m sure you have a point, but I’ve never had that happen yet. Have you had many faulty strips? I stopped buying from Amazon because I kept getting strips made in other countries like Germany and Mexico even though the seller claimed they were the US ones :mad:

Yes, I have had a few, that refused to read, despite plenty of blood, but they were given to me by my Vet for free, and I think they may have been open for a few months. Now, I am trying to figure out the best place to get them.
 
I have always worried about that too.
Anybody who is interested, I have a several extra boxes of Alpha Trak 2 test strips here. I have had them for a while, so they have been kept in a climate controlled setting. Expiration dates 9/20 and 11/20. I could spare a few boxes since I am not testing as often. I would sell them at cost ($50) plus cost of shipping and would ship however you wanted to get them quickly to you. 2 -day Priority Mail is usually around $7, Overnight Express I think is $25. If interested just message me.

I’m sorry I can’t help with alphatrack. For freestyle I was getting them from a site called affordable diabetic. Never had an issue with any of the strips and they had a 5% discount too
