Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a glucose meter to test Linux and l am in the UK.
Would you have recommendation?

Many thanks,

Gaelle

I would look at the One Touch Ultra - always a good bet and strips are available at a decent price on ebay. Or you could try the Code-free something... I don't have experience with that but others here have and I seem to remember it's available from Amazon.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Most vets recommend the AlphaTrak pet meter because it gives results very close to what their clinic equipment gives. However, the test strips are very expensive. I believe Freestyle Lite meters and strips are available in the UK. Many use the Freestyle Lite strips in the AlphaTrak meter and get BG results that are quite close to what AlphaTrak strips give. The FS strips are significantly cheaper.

UK members can advise you on what other meters are available.

Just looked on Amazon - the CodeFree meter is just £12.99 which includes ten strips to get you started, plus lancets. Replacement strips are only £7.99 which is a really good price compared with strips - the main expense when testing - for other meters.

I'm sorry I'm not able to link the exact page here but if you go to www.amazon.co.uk and search for CodeFree blood glucose meter you will see it immediately. I know that several other members here in the UK use it and I haven't heard them say they've had problems.

Thank you so much! I just ordered the code free... now l may post again when l will actually test Linux, as the lancet thing really scares me! thank you for your help :)

the lancet thing really scares me!
I was scared in the early days too, Gaelle. And I felt really, really guilty. :( It soon becomes second nature, especially when you develop a routine that works for you and your little one.

No problem, a lot of people find it easier to test freehand but I use a lancet pen. At the moment I'm using an old 'freestyle' one that you can't seem to get in the uk any more. I've ordered a new kind and will let you know how I get on with it. x
