giving slippery elm bark powder

Hi everyone, I've started adding SEB powder to Willow's snack meal (2 hrs from other meds) to help with constipation, and am just sprinkling it on her food. So far no problem with her eating it. I'm at 1/8 tsp sprinkled over food once daily, then I add water to her meal as usual. Will increase to twice daily as a starting dose.
I know some mix it in a slurry and heat it on the stove and refrigerate it, but is there any advantage to a slurry over plain powder if the cat eats it?

I don't think it makes a difference, as long as you give extra water with it, I use the syrup mainly because my cats just won't eat the food if add the SEB so I have to syringe it
