This is day 4 if Diamond’s injections. IU 2X a day. Tonight my husband and I have to go to dinner with friends and I need to give him his shot about an hr early. How bad is this and what should I do about tomorrow morning?

I’ve often had to do that and to be honest, it didn’t have much affect. What they say here tho is that it’s like giving a dose increase. If it were my cat I would shoot an hour early then walk it back for the next couple days. Eg tomrrow am shot do 45 mins late; tomorrow pm shot 30mins late. Sunday am 15 mins late and by Sunday pm you’re back to usual time.

Other option is to skip the shot but you will be depleting the depot.

An early shot acts like a dose increase You might want to give Diamond some food that's a little higher in carbs. How many hours after shot time will it be until you are back home? (I think there's a good chance that Diamond may bounce given the 145 this afternoon but it's best to leave out extra food just in case the numbers come back down while you're gone.)

You have the option of moving shot time back by 15 min. every shot time (i.e., twice a day) until you're back on schedule or shifting the time by 1/2 hour once a day.

We will be gone a few hours. Of course I gave him a really low carb can with his shot before we left. My son is home. I’ll have him give him another can.
