Gilbert wouldn't eat last night & guess he ate some during the night though because there was throw up this morning. After examining his vomit, I am almost positive he ate a lizard. He will not eat or drink broth. He will not leave his water dish...drinking a lot of water. He is weak which I believe to be normal considering he is so sick. I feel like he will get better soon if it was a lizard. What do you guys think? He does not normally eat things like this...now my other cats are a different story.

Have you called a vet or a poison emergency line? Not all lizards are safe to munch on. Perhaps a local vet ER could tell you what to look for other than an upset tummy.

Yes...I emailed my vet & she said if it was a lizard it could definitely make his tummy upset. At 1st I thought it was due to being diabetic & something bad wrong was going on. He was @ 177 this morning w/ no fever. He is just drinking soooo much water, but that might be a good thing...I don't know. He is sleeping right now & I will test his BS shortly since he is not eating.

If he doesn't eat and keep it down for 2 days, go to the vet as he would be at risk of developing hepatic lipidosis, where fat breakdown for calories overwhelms the liver and prevents it from working properly. An indicator is if he starts turning yellow (jaundice) in the whites of the eyes or skin.

He also could be at risk of diabetic ketoacidosis if not eating and ill, so please test for ketones.

Sending tons of healing vines to Gilbert.
I hope he starts feeling better once it's out of his system.
It's a good thing he's drinking.
