I plan on testing Gideon's BG daily for a while. I was thinking of testing at +3, since after he has his breakfast, he goes back to bed for a few hours. In your opinion, is this a good time to test to see if the pancreas is still working properly?

Doing ear sticks became such a part of our daily life. Now we have a small cell/large cell lymphoma kitty on the CHOP protocol that we are giving extra time to with injections, meds, fluids and assist feeding. So, for Gideon to go OTJ at this time is a blessing.

Thank you all!

Hi Shiloh,

Congrats on Gideon's remission! I haven't been in your position but I believe I read somewhere that you want to check at a time when you expect for him to have been able to bring the BG after eating by himself. I *think* you will see a food bump after feeding, so you want to see +2 hours after feeding?

I tested at ambg, since George had a tendancy to be higher then, if he was blue at that point I retested a couple of hours after his breaking.

A kitty in remission will usually stay within a pretty tight range of BG, it doesn't really matter when you test, you can move it around if you wish.

If you introduce new food, meds or if he's acting of monitor more closely.

When George first went OTJ I tested ambg and pmbg for a while I had a hard time letting go. Then I moved to once a day, couple of times a week. And a couple of times a month now. (O step it up if behaviour is odd, his BG can be a good indication that something is off, looking back it was the first sign that his teeth were a problem,, his range crept up (still normal, but up a bit) that's with the benefit of hindsight I didnt realise at the time.
