big fan of the movie....

remember the scene where the seals had to infiltrate the "prison camp" to try to rescue captured prisoners, and they got caught, and Demi uttered the best line of the flick after she broke the guy's nose?

This is what it looks like in daylight, without all the special effects and props...

Just a part of my 5000 acre "yard"!

I have to go further down the lagoon, but the "Vietnam Beach" scene from Forest Gump is just a little ways south of where I took those pics today. The scene from GI Jane where they carried the telephone poles over their heads on the beach was just done out there on the beach where I take most of the sunrise pics.
When they filmed the movie, (before I started working here) the film crew headquarters area was literally in the backyard of the house I just moved out of a couple weeks ago. When I first started working here, one of the little "prisoner huts" was still in the yard. It's cool to watch a movie and say "hey, I recognize that spot!" I got to work with a film crew from the Encore network last year, and they were doing some promo shots for GI Jane. The host of the show was doing some comedy shtick that they were going to superimpose over scenes from the movie. So they used the original locations. I guess it was going to be their feature movie of the week or month. That was fun.

Wow that's very pretty! Your back yard is amazing!

The movie The Outsiders was partcialy filmed in the town I grew up in. I was in dance class the day the film crew rolled in on main street. They closed main street & took hours to film a short scene. I got to watch on as they filmed the sence. It was a little boring because I was about 12 yrs old maybe at the time. It seemed like forever & they just kept repeating the scene over & over. I got to meet Francis Ford Coppola & had my picture taken with him while seating on a piece of filming equipment. I remember someone took the picture a couple of times & he joked around saying take 2 with the directors act board. I remember him being a really nice man. It was very cool. It is cool to watch a movie & say hey I know where that is. Or hey I meet the director of that movie.
