I know how to test and have done it on other cats over a thousand times so let's not go "there".

Is there an alternate area from which to attain blood that is accurate?

It would be great if there was a meter with an attached pipette or lance so when you poke the blood is at once delivered to the meter.

I sent for info on one that is semi permanently attached with a transmitter.

If I recall correctly, Ann & Scatcats in Sweden uses the foot pad. You may want to check her posts or do a search on alternate testing sites.

I test in the paw and have been doing for nearly 6 years. Never had problems with infections since I take care of that.

I test via the paw pad... never could get the hang of the ear testing. Kazi is pretty mellow, was a bit squirmy at first but responded very well to it. Never had any issues with infection (knock on wood!) I always rub neosporin into her pad when we are done. If I see her use the litterbox right before testing I wash the pad with soap and water first.
