Hey folks,
How to be consistent with timing? How important is that? How to make changes when necessary?
The story: We're using Lantus and I've been told it works best within a 15-minute window each time. Guess that would be 15-minutes before and 15 minutes after the last time, so it's really a half hour window.
We're having a lot of trouble with timing. We have an 11-year tradition of:
*mouse-playing before medicine (inhaler), then eat.
So this is now changed to
*mouse-playing, then BG test/inhaler, then eat, then insulin shot.
Problem is, nowadays, I never know if he's going to play for a half-hour, or not at all. Also sometimes my own schedule goes bezerk, or an important phone call happens, etc.
So we're back at 10:00 shooting schedule, but I need to get it to be 8:30 by next Tuesday morning for a doctor's appointment I could only get at 9:30 (or else it's November.) If I move it up 15 minutes at a time, we won't make it. But I can't always rely on being able to move it up 15 minutes. If he starts playing, I like to let him play because that's his fun. He doesn't always play every time any more so it's very special when he does. Also he needs the exercise!
Thoughts about this?
Thanks much,
Jan
