does anyone have suggestions on how to get my kitty to eat more than 50% of her meal in one sitting? I have to leave bowl out for 2-3 hours after shot for her to graze. She is hungry at shot time, but she was always a grazer so her tummy isn't used to eating one big meal in a short amount of time. I sprinkle protein freeze dried treats on top to try to keep her interest. I was wondering about mixing some FF in there but I don't want her to lose the taste she has for DM. Any other suggestions?

It's not but the amount she eats at shot time makes me nervous because it's so little. I will keep trying different things.

A lot of times, Mia does not eat much at shot time either. If your cat is eating 50% right away, she is doing better than Mia usually does. :)

Okay. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one. So many things to worry about with FD. I'm glad this forum exists!

Most kitties are natural grazers and it's why the 2 feedings a day is an old school of thought. Many of us feed multiple times a day too. No worries if she's eating the other 50% 2-3 hours later. Newer diabetics are still unable to efficiently use nutrients from food so they tend to be more hungry. It's ok to feed her again, just not 2 hours prior to PS test time, I call it the 20/7 buffet (minus 2 hours for each cycle )

Dm is overpriced and not necessary. Most of us feed fancy feast classic or Friskies pate. As long as her appetite seems normal and she had some food, just leave it out to graze. She can eat in between shots, just no food 2 hours prior to the preshot test.
