My cat was given Reglan when he was hospitalized but he had a terrible reaction to it. It's not a very common reaction but he got severely agitated and hyperactive so I couldn't use it on him anymore. I sometimes have to resort to cat lax to get the hair balls moving. I think the pumpkin puree is helping though. Leo's IBD is mild as diagnosed through endoscopy with biopsy but he still has the motility problem. His vet recommended Zantac which also moves food through the stomach faster but he got the runs from that. Is your cat in a medical remission from IBD? I've never heard of a cat going into remission from IBD without medication. How did you do that?
oh no poor kitty. thats so sad. glad he's feeling better. If i agree she will take it i will def look out for those symptoms. I always look for natural ways first if we can, because there are always reactions of some kind.
I also give her pumpkin since she is also i kidney insufficiency. It does help a lot hate seeing these kittys in any discomfort. My patchy has an ultrasound several yrs back and they thought it was either IBD or lymphoma. I didnt do the biopsy cause it was risky especially since she was only like 4 lbs she was very very sick. So we never got a true diagnoses, treated her with prednisone 5 mg a day for a yr. She got better, but became a diabetic because of the steroids. I also changed her diet to commercial raw (rad cat) best cat food ever. she thrived on it, no more grinding her teeth or stomach pain, and i also weaned her off the steroids. We did another ultrasound and it was completely gone. I guess I'm told it never really goes away but can go into remission . you got to find what they are allergic too just like people could be gluten, carrageen etc. The rad cat is organic and has no fillers all very good. I believe the steroids def helped relieve the inflammation but she needed something permanent thats where the food comes in. What do you fee your Leo? You may want to try it check out there website there are testimonies from other IBD cats. She is also in remission for diabetes too took about a yr. She went back on the insulin 1/3 unit tiny when she ate that darn kidney food since january. but because i stopped the kidney food this weekend she's off the insulin again. yeah!
My kitty has kidney disease now probably from the diabetes, but i think ( i mean i know for sure) her sickness is from the prescription diet. its loaded wth rice, other additives, and plus its far from organic. I decided to take her off the kidney diet this past weekend she hates it. Need to find or make our own for her. My kitty prob also has pancreas issues maybe she had an attack this weekend,. we wont know till tests come back. i really believe its the darn food.
Oh also ,,i feed her 6-8 small meals a day. IT helps keep there stomach acid from building up if the tummy stays full, and also give her krill oil which helps with any inflammation.
so again if you can afford the food you should try it. You can also call the company ask where it is sold. Its not sold in petsmarts but pet boutiques . there should be one near you.
have a great nite
