Happy Tuesday everyone!!! I thought I would come and give you guys a Garland update. I cant thank everyone enough for all you have done to help us! I was very blessed to find this board. Thank you again!
After 7 days in the ER, a bad episode of DKA and FHL, Garland is on day 10 at home. She has a feeding tube and I feed her every 3-4 hours about 30cc of recovery.
Last week we found out she was NEGATIVE for ketones! yay! Then, around day 8 at home I started noticing some improvements. She walked for the first time over the weekend!! Yay!! Now she is starting to notice how shabby she looks LOL Shes started to try to clean herself up a bit  She is much more alert and I am starting to see glimpses of her personality again. ( she growled at the kids like she used to) She still doesnt move around a lot. I think she still feels very weak and a bit nauseous. She likes to curl up in the corner of the closet and rest. But at night, I bring her out in the living room for some new scenery. She wanted to go outside and feel the warmth a few times too. Shes no where near out of the woods yet, but she is on the path to getting healthy again! She even seems interested in drinking water on her own (but hasnt done it yet)
Oh, and poor Connick (my other kitty) still hisses at her when he sees her. Im hoping he starts snuggling w his BFF again soon. Im sad he wont go near her..she must still smell funny?
Her BS is still pretty high. Staying in the 300 range. We have upped her dose from 1u 2x a day to 2.5u 2x a day. I havent seen it help much yet. Those numbers are refusing to go down for some reason... She has thrown up a few times, but I have noticed she seems to do it when I try to feed her more than 30cc in one sitting. I think she has a small tummy. Her current meds are: pepcid, potassium gel, and metoclopramide. We are filling an Rx today for some anti nausua meds. (ondansetron)
I think thats it for now! Thank you all again, from the bottom of my heart. Its because of you that shes still here with me cat_pet_icon
