Garland needs prayers... I know its been a long time....

Im not sure how many of you remember us. 2 years 2 months ago, my kitty Garland was DKA and was not expected to make it. This board and you guys helped us so much and after a long hospital stay, a feeding tube and lots of prayers, she made a full recovery. The last 2 years have been more than perfect! She has been like a little 2 year old again. Running, jumping, playing....Healthy!

2 days ago, I noticed she didnt eat as much as usual, but her behavior was fine. Yesterday I noticed she only ate a few bites that morning, then last night she started throwing up. Bad throwing up. Green, foamy and making the most awful sound. Her behavior is off now too. Very lethargic and not eating at all. Its reminding me so much of when she was sick 2 years ago. Her glucose is around 100 since she hasnt been eating and her ketones are already out of control. The meter read "HI", which means they are over 8.0. Since her numbers are so low and shes not eating, she hasnt had a shot since Monday morning. It would have put her hypo

I need all your kitty prayers for Garland. Pray that she recovers again. Hopefully I caught it soon enough... We have a vet visit at noon today. I plan on asking for bloodwork to check her liver. I hope it hasnt turned into Fatty Liver Disease yet. Im getting so very worried!!! :( Im a little rusty in the DKA area now, what else should I ask at the vet? Im not sure what caused this either....

Since I know this might get asked: She eats FF classic, uses Lantus (current dose was 2.5u), I dont keep a SS anymore, relion meter
 
Hello Violet,

it could also be pancreatitis. You are already at the vet if you had a 12 appointment time. It could be a number of things but, ketones and pancreatitis come to mind first. I am sending prayers for Garland and please keep us updated.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers everyone. Its not looking too good this time....

Her bloodwork was awful. High everything. They want to do a feeding tube right away, but she is too weak/dehydrated to get one just yet. We are trying to decide if its time to let her go... :( Looks like a UTI is what started this huge snoball effect to DKA/fatty liver.

They are doing one more test (an ultrasound) to see if there is much hope. Keep us in your prayers

I remember the first time you posted like it was yesterday. We all got to witness Garland's miracle over the next few days.

Well, after seeing her again and after the u/s we decided to try for recovery. After being on only fluids (not any meds) for the last 3-4 hours, she perked up so much. Even the doctor seems surprised. The outlook is still 50/50 and I dont know if she will pull through, but I feel we need to try. The u/s showed nothing they didnt already know, so we have hope :) Keep praying for us. Im not ready to lose her yet....

I'm not sure if a mod can "fix it". I don't know how, but I posted a message to the other mods to see if they know a way.

I'm so sorry you had to come back due to this. Garland is a fighter if ever there was one. Sending tons of prayers, white light, and snowflakes....come on, Garland...you can do it.

I checked with Jill and she said a mod can't do anything. I looked up your old user I'd and it was "Violet and Garland". If you enter that and then click on the link for if you forgot your password, then it will email it to you. If you don't remember the email addy, can you try the ones you've used the last couple years?

I had also bookmarked one of Garland's Condo.
 
Violet...one other thought.

You might want to think about posting in TR again where there are more eyes that know you and Garland. We'd love to have you back :-D
 
It seems like yesterday Violet and I'm so glad she's been so well because you two fought so hard.
Payne fought back from FOUR DKAs! It is possible and you were always so good to Garland.
My prayers also, and I will go light a candle in the morning.

Simba, Gustav and I donated quiet substantial sum to Garland when she was in hospital that time to help her. It don't seem so long time ago. Saw the notification about her now through Venita et als DCIN Facebook page. I can only say I am very sorry. It doesn't feel like much time you got. Baby Garland. Cutie Pie Baby Garland. You got some money from Sweden and Simba and Gustav. Some of THEIR K I N D AND LOVE SHARING HEARTS. THE BEST GUYS IN THE UNIVERSE AND WORLD. BUT WE LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND AND GOES TO JOIN IN UNIVERSE.
You won't go to pass by Gustav and Simba because they are still with me. I don't know what Belief you had, Garland, but Simba and Gustav was T a o i s t s, and Gustav A Buddha, not o n e thing in the Apartment i s n't theirs, they've boooooth Decorated E v e r y t h i n g THEMSELVES, and have had everything e l s e Decorated F O R THEM, By Me.
