? Garfield pmps 527

It looks to me as if he is bouncing from the lower blue numbers today.. He bounced up to black on 29/2 from a blue number.
Some cats are just bouncers.
With Sheba I would have a lovely run of greens for a few day and think I was on the right track and then she would be back bouncing...and diving.
See what Wendy and Chris say.

Im wondering why he is bouncing to crazy high numbers at this dose, but at a higher dose he went even lower but never bounced this bad. I know im annoying with this im just trying to figure out why he bounces more some times vs others lol

I feel like I shouldn't even post anymore because the answer is always "he is bouncing" which is obviously the case. just feel like you could be helping others instead of confirming its just another bounce .

Please don’t feel like that Cassandra.
We are here to help everyone. I would have answered earlier but I managed to buy some meat for my cats and was cutting up raw meat meals to freeze for them which i hope will last a couple of weeks during this crisis we are all going through.

Bouncing is extremely frustrating for the CG. During Sheba’s first time on insulin she was a dream and went OTJ in 3 months. The second time she became a bouncing and diving champion. She did spend time in green but just when I thought I had her sorted, she would get back on that trampoline. So I completely understand how you feel.
I would just keep doing what you are doing.
Garfield is getting into greens which is good. He needs to spend more time in blues and greens so he can get more used to those numbers. Keep asking questions :)

When did you feed Garfield today? Just wondering if a later feeding shortened duration.

Did you get any tests the night of the 14th? SS is blank there - but that could be a missing piece to the puzzle.

More insulin can usually help lower the height of the bounces.

Im sort of leaving food out all the time for him now. I also added a 8% carb food in his normal friskies pate to help prevent dropping. If the vet sees me before everything shuts down, is it unsafe to start levemir knowing the vet maybe wont be available is something were to happen?

Obviously hospitals would still be open but is it a bad time to be switching Insulins?

I know I should be testing during the night, but when he is that high at pm +2 I just don't think of doing it. But definitely a possibility

Thank you!

A wise person told me that when the +2 is higher than pmps (or amps) that you can relax a bit & get some much-needed sleep. This very frustrating, I know......hang in there! I hope he levels out soon. :bighug::bighug:

p.s. So sorry to hear of his recent diagnosis...I know you will give him all the love he needs.

Thank you very much! You mean his stage 2 ckd? Yes im very nervous about doing his bloodtest im affraid if it got worse or something :( but I bought lower phosphorus food and phosohorus binder not much more I can do. Next step would be fluids which is nerve racking. ❤️

Not sure the vet could help you more than we could in terms of Lantus vs. Levemir. But you may find response times here quiet down as people have a lot of other things on their mind at the moment. I myself have had one of those days. So yes, I think it might be wise to wait a bit yet before switching.

Most of the time true, but not always. It's ECID. My girl was a contrarian, but it looks like it is true for Garfield.
