what do you mean feed the 40s?
When your kitty #s drop into the 40s you feed them to bring #s back up. You generally feed a "higher" carb food like Medium Carb(MC)....11% - 15% carbs. That usually brings #s up w/o over inflating them. High carb food(HC) is over 15%.
Also when steering the #s with food, testing every 30 min is usually fine. It takes that amount of time, usually, for the carbs to effect BG(blood glucose) #s.
If you know how carb sensitive Garfield is, his normal LC(low carb) food might bring his #s up a lil bit and allow him to surf.

His normal food brought him up slightly. Will test to see if he surfs hopefully !

Yes I also have medium carb food at home .

I just hate that he doesn't have these numbers further in the cycle :(

If it were me and jmo..I might offer a little more food to encourage a surf a little bit higher on the wave:cool::D
Is this food ok for him? Just for days when he is being picky with his normal food

I'm not very good at figuring out carb content for different foods. Maybe one of the experienced folks can give you a hand with that. I did find what they call the composition(ingredients) from their website. I'm not sure about the carrots and tapioca starch being primary ingredients. I copied the ingredients so, someone else can take a peek at it.

Ingredients : Composition: chicken 27.5%, pumpkin 6%, carrots 6%, tapioca starch 1.7%, yeast extract 1.3%.

Could you update your subject line to show Garfield has now come up into safe numbers, thanks to @Briere Fur Mom helping.

Tapioca starch is pretty high in carbs. Maybe email the product manufacturer and see if they have the protein, fat, carbs breakdown analysis done.
