Texted garfie on Sept 30 he was 3.5
his normal range 2.9 to 3.1
Granted we had some work done in house thought maybe that pushed him up.
Tested Oct 1 at 5pm he was 2.9 ok back to normal
Went to feed snack at 11pm not interested in food that's strange for him so I tested and he's 5.6 ???
So that puts him in the blues is this normal ?
Gonna retest in a bit hope he comes down I did notice a hairball on my bed could that be causing it. ?
He gets restoralax twice a day so I don't think that's the problem
What can I give if it's a hairball

Any chance Garfie got into some contraband?
Both the work done and a hairball could also do it.
5.6 (101) is barely a blue. With meter variance, it could well be a high green.
For now, continue to monitor for a few days to see if it was a one-off.

No contraband cats eat separate places and I don't leave until they are done so that dosent happen. What is safe to give for hairball in diabetic cats

I just syringe a bit of water as he gets restoralax and he gets water on food . So wanted to make sure he got some water and he decides to vomit the water back up. He didn't even want his treats

It sounds like something else is going on with Garfie. If he is not better by morning, I'd have him checked by the vet. And do check for dehydration if he is not keeping anything down.

Dehydration test:

Ok after 30 min drive to at vet waited 2 hours to see someone even though there was 1 person there I constantly poked to check his levels. Finally saw vet she argued with me about his numbers told me they are all wrong she said she was not concerned over his really high numbers that was causing him to go lethargic and funky eye movement. Vet wanted to do bloodwork I said what do you want to do she gave me a list and I said no let's do fructose level and check his kidneys vet said not needed needless to say I left. He is down to 5.6 gonna saw he is back in safe zone so being as its now 430am my time I am going to bed have to be up for work in 2.5 hours

How's Garfie doing, how are you doing Rebecca? Hope all is well and you get some rest tonight. kisses and hugs to Garfie.

How often do you test?

In general, I wouldn't get too upset if it's a day's worth of unusual numbers. It's entirely possible that Garfie was stressed over something or did find something on the floor that was high carb. If his numbers stay high, it's a concern. Did the vet happen to check Garfie's teeth? Dental issues are the one thing that can bring cats out of remission more than anything else.

Went to my vet today. We are doing tons of blood work, urine work. Will get results tomorrow. He does have early dental disease so he will be getting his teeth done but wants to wait for blood work to come in. Gonna get an estimate on how much it will be will keep everyone posted . Thanks for all the hugs

Blood work all normal for a cat his age and considering what's he's been through vet not concerned about anything. All organs are working like suppose to. I will be getting his paper tomorrow so I will post his numbers. No keystones or sugar in urine
