Gandalf 6/5 AMPS 320 ~ 1.3U

Not sure if the storms overnight caused this sudden rise or not. They woke me up, but weren't bad enough to cause me to get up. I did hear growling from under the bed, so there was more than one cat under there.

Oh my lord! What the heck?

Maybe I jinxed him? Well, you an always "throw out" one random high number....

We never got T-storms last night. But supposed to get some today.

Now I know where the 320 came from

His +12 tonight was 52 on Aviva and 47 on my old True Track meter with strips 9 months past expiry date.

SOOOOO....I am waiting till +13.5 because I was going to do splits in the AM. It REALLY sucks I'm going out of town tomorrow and won't be back till Monday midday. I can handle a dose reduction to 1.2U but not seeing how he does on it really irks me. Monday a friend will be here for the afternoon/evening and next morning too which will pretty much make any results irrelevant. He is not good with strangers, although he's met her before it's been a few years.

Although I did not get a typical dose reduction low number below 40, I'm now pretty sure that 320 was a bounce from some kind of low overnight.

And if he's supposed to be a nadir at +12 kitty, I can't function with that. Maybe some people can dose on 50s but I doubt they leave for 10+ hours on those days.

I'll see how he does on 1.2U the best I can. Next vacation period won't be till mid-July.

That makes sense that he bounced if he was 52 at +12 AFTER a 320 in the am.

When are you leaving tomorrow? Will you have enough time to get a spot check in? Will it matter? I guess not really since he nadirs in the 3rd quarter of the cycle (usually). I don't think he is a +12 nadir. You didn't get any checks before +12 (like +8 or 9?) that was probably his low. Would have taken longer to come down from the 320....

Well, have a safe trip.

+8.5 on 1.2U was 94

Made right decision on dose then. If only I wasn't leaving, but people are depending on me, so I have to go. So I'll never know if it holds or not. Then comes decision do I bump him up to 1.3U again? He's going to go 34 hours after this 10AM shot because I see no sense in giving him a shot when I return tomorrow afternoon, might as well wait till 8PM.

Well, I will be interested in how he is when you get back. I would have left him at 1.2u - what did you do? I would have done that so just in case the higher dose was causing a bounce, he wasn't going into the 34 hr time frame on a high bounce at hour 12. If I remember correctly, he won't really come down from that over the next 24 hrs. With Beau, I could count on him keeping himself under 300 if I was gone like that - and usually closer to 250. But maybe at that point (above renal threshold) a hundred points doesn't make much difference.

Hope it all went well with Gandalf Vicky and that you had a nice trip. It will be interesting to see where he is at when you get back.

Have a great trip. I too will be anxious to see how the Gman is when you return. Wishing him the best, that grey cutey!

It's been a long day and a half. He's incredibly high at 452 after 34 hours since last shot. I gave him 1.3U to get him back down, he's eating well, and I gave him 100ml fluids also. I really don't worry about ketones, but gave extra fluids to lessen dehydration's role in that equation.

We have company tonight and part of tomorrow, so house is a little topsy turvy, with 2 cats under the bed and not the usual suspects. Gandalf and Tigget are OK, they investigate, but Sammie and Leahpold aren't used to someone else staying in the house.

Oh darn it, I am surprised too! I would not have thought he would go that high. May take a while to clear out that GT, but hopefully not too long. Good that you gave the fluids.
