It's been a while since I opened a condo for Gabby. I hate December. Gabby is among those kitties that crossed the Bridge this month and today is the 2nd anniversary of her crossing. I remember that day all too well. I remember holding her on my chest (her favorite spot) and the look in her eyes telling me that it was time.

I think about her daily. I have pictures of her at home and in my office and she's my screen saver. Of course, Gizmo is his usually goofy self. He's lying next to me, flat on his back, wanting belly rubs. He's a character!!

For those of you who never knew Gabby, she left a legacy. There's a farewell video in the link in my signature to Gabby's Legacy. The post I wrote is #7 in the condo.

"Cats never completely leave you. They side step time, shrug off death - come at the call of memory their beauty undiminished, their touch as gentle, their love perpetual." I miss you sweet girl.

(((Sienne))),
It was spellbinding seeing this wonderful tribute to Gabby again. Two years! I know that this anniversary is a difficult one, especially during the holidays. But when I think back on Gabby and her amazing relationship with you and with the other kitties who shared her life with you, I can only smile. I hope that you and Gizmo will have a good day today. Relive your special Gabby moments! She was one fine kitty. :cat:

I'm sorry December is so tough for you. :bighug:

Gabby taught you so much and through her you were and are able to help so many, that is a gift from both of you and absolutely she has left a legacy. Please know how much that means to all of us here and we have Gabby to thank for it!

I would never consider FD as any kind of blessing, but a silver lining in some really bad luck is it does bring you even closer to your cat, as much as it hurts more when they are no longer with you, you shared a very special bond that you probably wouldn't have had otherwise. I hope the good memories of her are some comfort to you and it sounds like Gizmo keeps you laughing through the heartache. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I don’t know how I missed this earlier today as I was sure you would post. I’ve been thinking of you and Gabby today and that day two years ago. As then, I hold you close in my heart for the loss of your girl. She was a beauty and she always made me smile over the fact that no DPS could test her.

We’ve been through a lot together, you and I. You were there for us when we were newbies and I learned a lot from you. Then we became good friends; and then we both suffered the unimaginable loss within weeks of each other. I have always been and will always be grateful to you for all you have given to us personally and to this board. Thank you for staying around to share your knowledge.

Many blessings of peace upon you, my friend.

Gabby was indeed a beautiful little lady. You were both very lucky to have each other.

Add me to the list that dreads December. Three years ago today, Christmas Eve at 6am, is when the doctor called from the NCSU vet school ICU to tell us that our first sugar kitty, Brady, had just crossed over (fortunately the doctor and nurse were there with the whole time even though he had a DNR, at least he wasn't alone). We were supposed to be getting a feeding tube put in that day and bringing him home after 17 days in ICU (unrelated to diabetes).

But the loss of our Brady led me to adopt Whisper, who had waited at a rescue for years for me to finally find him, so it is bittersweet. Oh how I would have loved to have both Brady AND Whisper - I think that they would have been two peas in a pod!

Whisper's shot time is 7:30am, but a loud noise woke me up, looked at the clock and it was exactly 6am... That same kind of thing happened last year as well. Your mama loves you forever, my Brady...

I saw this yesterday, but couldn't post until today. December is also a hard month here. I hadn't realized until watching the video again that Gabby was born about a year before Neko as well as going to the Bridge about a year before. Gabby taught you well. :bighug:
