Fur shots?

I think I'm having issues here. I think yesterday I fur-shot and again today. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and I do it the exact same way each time. You can see from my spreadsheet that it 'goes in' typically but in 7 days I think i've fur-shot 3 times. Does anyone have a detailed video or explanation to make sure this doesn't happen?

Basically I part her fur, find the kind of 'blue/white' spot where her fur comes from (skin), and just pop the syringe in there and inject... I did that this morning with extreme care, trying to get it right, and at +6 we're still above 300 so the insulin must have not gone in.. this is frustrating as I don't know what I'm doing wrong, and my technique is always the same and it almost seems 50/50 that it works.

I should add I always smell the area because the insulin smells so strong, and it's never wet... I swear I'm doing it right but the numbers don't match up..

If it is not wet, and you don't smell insulin, I wouldn't think it was a fur shot. I am checking the SS now, but I don't give dosing advice, so anything I say after this will only be supportive.

I'm just trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, if anything. Like 7/10 you see she drops to 234 at +6 and today/yesterday she is at 339(+5) and 340 (+6), which makes me think I furshot.

You've got your signature and spreadsheet going, so you may find more help in the Lantus forum.
One important note: Keep the same dose for a minimum of 3 full days in order to let the dose effects stabilize. Then, the dose is adjusted by the value at the nadir, the lowest glucose between shots.

We have 2 protocols for using Lantus
Tight Regulation
Start Low, Go Slow
You'll want to read these over carefully and pick one to follow.

Hi Pevsfreedom, I am new here but I can tell you something that has helped me. My vet's tech shaved two little spots where I alternate the injections. This gives me full view which really helps. Once I did a fur shot while I was pulling back on the plunger to make sure I was not in a vein (instructed to do it that way) and while I pulled back, I inadvertently pulled the needle out of his skin.

Here are a couple of videos I found that you may find helpful:

The last one shows very good techniques for holding the needle.
