I am so upset at myself, I gave a major fur shot this morning, think I didn't angle enough and went right through the skin out the other side. :banghead: I suspect I did not get any insulin in. :( I know the procedure is to not shoot again, but are there exceptions? Can a reduced dosage be given after checking BG levels? I can be around for testing. I feel sorry for my poor cat, he has such a dumb mom. :banghead::banghead:

No, he does not have a dumb Mom. People who have been giving shots for years give fur shots. It happens. As my dad used to say "Nobody's Perfect". You really don't want to shoot again. Yes, you are right - probably nothing went in but it is just not worth taking the chance. You could shoot early tonight. Are you wanting to alter the schedule? If so, it's the perfect time. You can shoot any time after +10 or so, assuming his numbers are not going anywhere but up. Then, it would be nice if you could shoot 12 hours after that, but if not, maybe shoot an hour early in the am?

I just did the same thing on Sunday night. I wanted to reshoot too but, the wise ones say not to. I was very upset too! Then yesterday morning, he was lower that Sunday's PMPS that I screwed up. Go figure. So maybe some did get in him.

I can do that Sue, figured it wasn't safe to re-shoot, but it is so upsetting knowing he will go so high today. I seem to be in a fur shot mode lately, poor Rupie. :arghh: Thanks for your help and great advice! :bighug:

So super late to the party here (work was nuts today). Just wanted to say you aren't a dumb mom! A fur shot happens to us all. Let me tell you about the not one time but TWO TIMES I got up, tested, fed, and then just totally forgot to give a shot. Got the insulin out once and everything then just left it on the counter. Both times I realized hours later when I was at work what I did. Nothing I could do since I live too far from home to get back and it was literally hours later anyway. Talk about feeling dumb!

I am new to this Rachel and I am betting I will pull something similar at some point in time! We are human and make mistakes, as Sue reminded me. I felt extra bad because I did a fur shot a couple of nights ago! :banghead: It always undermines my confidence when I do that! :( I was moving along, feeling all cocky and sure of myself "I got this" and then "WHAM", I do something lame! lol Luckily it looks like a got some in him, which I doubted earlier. He is high, but he has been higher. I am off to look at injecting insulin videos again! Big hugs to all of you that were so sweet to help calm me and give me guidance. :bighug:
