So Max has been doing great on the fancy feast and insulin and his numbers have been improving. Today though, I was playing with him and I rolled him over on his back and down between his back legs on his lower belly, he has a big patch of short hair, where he used to just have normal hair. What?
I think I'm going to call the vet tomorrow, but does anyone know what this is? Is it a diabetes thing?

I don't think it's a diabetes thing. Have you noticed if Max has been over grooming? Is he on new food? I'm wondering if has an allergy. Does Max go outside ? I'm sure the vet will ask you a lot of questions tomorrow to try to determine what is going on.

That's a classic sign of food allergy, though it could be something else.

How long ago did you change his food? What varieties are you using, Common allergens include grains and gluten.

Overgrooming (stress), food allergy, flea bite allergy, or Hyperthyroidism are the ones that immediately pop to mind. You can check for HyperT with a blood test, so it's probably the easiest to rule out.
