Remember that it will take a few days for the depot to build up - before we see the full effect of the dose. It may be that we need to do an increase after we see how he does.

As for syringes— you are using U-100 syringes, right? You will need the ones with the half unit markings because we will be making dose changes in .25 unit increments and you have to eyeball the plunger between the half and the whole unit marks.
I used to buy mine from ADW Diabetes Supply, but there are some available on Amazon and other places.

I will keep testing every 3 hours until I go to bed. Monday - Friday I am super busy, in fact it is usually my busiest week of the year and I will be working Friday. I should be able to do at least do another test after PM shot. Then I am off for the next week so I can do more testing.

I will look at Amazon for the syringes especially if I don't have to have rx. My vet did give me a rx and told me if I need to change it or write one for a specific place she has no issues with that. They didn't have the 1/2 dose where I got the insulin.

My vet did write the rx for generic Lantus however I gave the pharmacy the GoodRX and he said it is cheaper to buy the Lantus. As long as it is not going through insurance it is $35 per pen and I can go back each month to purchase a pen.

How long a pen lasts depends on the dose. Gabby was not on a large dose of insulin and if I'm remembering correctly, a pen would last about 3 mos. If you look on her spreadsheet, you'll see where I started new pens.

If you want to start posting on the Lantus board, it's fine to make the switch. Much like Health, it's a busy board and there are usually people around 24/7.

Also, a housekeeping note. Can you start a new thread?
