Yo cats and kittens of all ages

It’s time for everyone to gather together for the full moon pawty! Tonight, we celebrate the full Hunter’s Moon! Of course there will be traditional favorites as purrpared by my mentors, Chef Felix, Chef Rusty, and the Kitchen Krews of yore at Hunter’s Moons past:

Appetizers: Adirondack Microbrews; Hot Tuna Toddies; Moon Broth; Sauteed Mouseballs in Nip Gravy; Chipmunk Fillets; Autumn Insect Crunch; Wild Mushroom Compote; Sushi Bar featuring the specialties of Sushi Chef Tux as well as Chef Neko's fabulous sushi rolls made with fresh-caught Lake Clear fish; Grilled Rabbit Kabobs; Assorted Paw Prints Pizzas.

Entrees: Wild Duck Gumbo; Pheasant Pot Pie; Roasted Wild Turkey; Brunswick Stew; Grilled Lake Trout. Chef Mannie's Renowned PNW Poached Sockeye Salmon with Nip Mayo; Chef Rusty's Thunderin' Bison Chili.

Salads: Butthead's & Donny's Adirondack Field Greens with Sunflower Seeds; Confetti Slaw; Chef Felix's Sweet and Savory Crunchy Crouton Toppers.

Desserts: Maggie's Signature Cheesecakes with Fresh Cranberries; Tobey's Cimmamum Cookies; Apple Pie à la Chief Pastry Chef Tess; Surprise Dessert à la Dessert Chef Sootie; Chef Stu's World Famous Catmint Parfaits.

Newer traditions include Bubba's MouseMousse; Leo's Chunky Tuna and Salmon Ice Cream with Sardine Sprinkles; Olive's Shoelaceghetti with a side of pickles; TinySolé's sister Cookie's cod brownies filled with catnip; PussCatDusty's crispy birds feet served on baked catnip wafers (mmmmm, crunchy!) as well as her sweet and sour skink tail vol-au-vents & freeze dried plain yoghurt balls; Chef Felix's Mediterranean platter with crunchy falafel, catmint mewli-tabouli, and smoked papurrika hummouse; Chieflet Luna's Longtail Surprise à la Rosa and Regan. You’ll find Bella’s catinis at the Tiki Hut.

If you’re not feeling up to pawtying hard tonight, the Taster Blankets are set up and ready for you to relax on. They're the purrfect place to view the Circle of Remembrance at midnight, when the veil thins and we can purrceive our loved ones who have Gone Ahead partying with us. Olive’s Memorial Blanket can be found here too. Let Roxi know what you want to try, as well as anything you need to let the kitchen know about the food to make it as purrfect as possible..

“Ruby and the Kittens” are ready to entertain you and help you dance the night away. They’re starting to get into the Halloween spirit and have some new moves for the occasion. Come and join them on the dance floor and show them your best moves too!

DJ Molly will be playing all your favorite tunes. She’s taking requests, so let her know what you want to hear.

We’re having lots of fun already in the kitchen getting everything ready for you all. Head on over as early as you can to get this pawty started!

Check out our new aprons too – aren’t they fun?

Chef Luna

And the possibility of late night meteors to boot!

On Wednesday night, Earth will pass through the densest part of the debris stream from Halley's Comet, which will result in the peak of the meteor shower. Orionid meteors tend to be bright, and there's typically up to 20 per hour seen during the peak of the shower.

The general timing of the Orionids' peak is a little unfortunate, though. The light of a Full Moon tends to wash out dimmer meteors. So, we'll see fewer meteors than is typical, this year, but they will definitely be the brighter ones.

According to Spaceweather.com, "Interference from the Hunter's Moon will reduce visible meteor rates from the usual 20 to only 5 Orionids per hour."

However, the general brightness of Orionid meteors, as well as the exact timing, may save the show from being a complete wash!

According to the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada's Observer's Handbook for 2021, the exact peak of the meteor shower is expected early in the morning on Thursday the 21st. With the meteor shower's radiant rising at around 10:30 p.m. local time, it will be about four hours behind the Moon as it tracks across the sky. Therefore, it will still be reasonably high in the sky (the best time to watch a meteor shower) when the Moon is closer to the western horizon, before sunrise.

So, this may be the best time to set your alarms extra early for Thursday and get out in the cool pre-dawn air to catch a few meteors streaking across the sky.
Keep an eye out for our neighbourhood's recently departed Hoss – a big boned short hair tabby. He wasn't a diabetic but he was the biggest and most endearing mooch I've ever known so he may put in an appearance. We all miss him.

Of course the guys are impatient! They're ready to leave since an hour but they have to wait for Josephine who's still wondering if she should wear her gray shoes or the black ones with her pink dress.....
As usual Ti-Mousse didn't eat all day, it's his monthly banquet; he's drooling just reading the menu !!!
Pepe the Tux is ready to dance with all the kitty girls !

But the important moment of this evening is at midnight when the veil thins and we hope to see our beloved ones.... my sweet Peanut, my little girl Zoe and my old stray Ti-Gris, all lost this year !!!

Thank you for having this opportunity to get together and celebrate our loved ones who left momentarily our lives !

I wish I could say that would be "early". But as my day starts at 4:30 am for work, I might just catch a few without having to do anything out of the ordinary!

I know the Rainbow Bridge cats don't discriminate at all - after all, none of them are diabetic now either. I'm very sorry for your loss - those neighborhood cats can really steal a lot of hearts.

I am so excited to be able to attend another Moon Pawty with my furiends on this side of the veil! I have been feeline good and purracticing my dance moves so maybe someday I can dance almost as well as Ruby and the Kittens! I love to meet all of the nice kitties and to learn about their nice mommas (and pawpaws). I also like to look through the Veil and see that it isn't scary to go to the Rainbow Bridge, even though it makes my momma sad when kitties go there.
Lots of love and purrs,
Wilkie the Civvie Kitten

We're having so much fun at this pawty. We're singing and dancing and eating lots of food. But now it's time for us to quiet the music and take a break for a few minutes as the veil thins so we can see our beloved GAs at the Bridge. They are pawtying alongside us as always, and they too take some time out from their fun to spend some time near us. Soon we will restart the music and the pawty will go on until dawn. But now, let's take some time to enjoy our favorite part of every full moon pawty and make sure we spend that precious time with all our GAs. ~Chef Luna

It's so lovely to have you pawtying with us again Wilkie! We have been hoping you would still be with us for this Full Moon. Ruby and the Kittens are very impressed with your dance moves and are enjoying learning from you while teaching you some extra new moves. The Bridge isn't scary for us cats, but it makes our hoomans very sad because they can't see their beloved cats there. ~Chef Luna

Thank mew, Moon Auntie Luna! You sure do cook yummy stuff for all of us kitties (and I'm told they have great cooks at the Bridge, too). My Full Moon Momma Roxi probably told you I've been having more than a taste of everthing! Purrs.

I can confirm the cooks at the Bridge are wonderful. I learned everything from Chef Felix, who your momma can tell you all about. And he learned many recipes from Chef Rusty. Roxi is so happy to be your Full Moon Momma again tonight and to make sure you get lots and lots of yummy food. And I am delighted to be your Moon Auntie. Head boops and purrs. Luna

I do believe Luci was at the pawty last night dressed in her costume! She seems exhausted this morning but she was anxious and ready for her usual AM adulations - she actually gets up on the testing towel and waits for me now - ready and waiting - that's my girl. She's come such a long way in 4 years. This is the time of year when we were wondering what was going on with her and took her to the vet - what a traumatic time that was.

Fabulous pawty she reports! Thanks to all you prepared the wonderful fuds and especially those who were able to reach out and share the love with their GA's. It is a special time. I was thinking of Susie last night - hope you're doing okay @Summer and Susie (GA).

Thank you for thinking of us, Sue. Susie was on the bridge looking happy and healthy. She was, however, missing her typical pink tutu from parties past.

It is good to hear that Luci is doing so well. You are blessed.
