Sorry, but sometimes I just don't get it. For 22 days we have gone without a yellow number. Now, tonight, one pops up. Ugh! :YMSIGH:

I have no idea what happened or why. Please understand that right now I cannot do my evening shot for Lizzy consistently every day. My work schedule isn't allowing it and I know since she is on Lantus she needs it twice a day. So, to provide some type of consistency, I only shoot insulin in the AM. I am finding that giving her smaller meals does help her, too.

Can you tell me how long does food stay in the system and how many hours after eating it will start to affect her BG numbers?

Is my thinking that I may have given a furshot or didn't have anything in the syringe a possibility or should I be watching for something else? Or am I just panicking?

Thanks!

Andy

Good job on getting the curve in! As far as the sunny yellow, it's really not far off from the 196. When you factor in 20% meter variance, it's pretty much the same thing. It's hard to say if the higher numbers should be of concen - it's only a few numbers, and she is a cat after all. They like to remind us just who's in control of this little dance. Hopefully a more senior member will weigh in soon.

After a shot & food, the glucose tends to rise for about 2 hours, then drop down until nadir (between +5 to +7 for many cats on Lantus), then rise up again.

Given you arent testing during the day or night that often, you could be missing occasional yellows then too. Or occasional low greens that would mean a decrease. Numbers dont look that bad though given you are dosing once a day. Hope they dont go up though.
