Frontline

My cat has been diabetic 5 years now. From last year to this, no decline in kidney values. I take him outside in the warm weather- so I needed some kind of flea protection, I put Frontline on him. Coincidentally, this cat who was doing great in April is displaying signs of kidney failure. I lost a cat years back to HARTZ drops. When will I learn?? Don't put poison on your cats, especially diabetic cats whose kidneys are already compromised. Vets will say its safe- but it isnt. It is poison. As 24/7 care givers of diabetic cats we see things that vets don't see, and this product harmed my cat.

While it is always possible for animals to have idiosyncratic responses, it is important to remember that an association of two things does not necessarily mean one caused the other.

I've used Frontline on Bandit for years and he's perfectly healthy. I've never seen any literature linking Frontline to kidney disease. In fact, Tanya recommends the use of Frontline for cats in renal failure on her CRF page: http://www.felinecrf.org/treatments.htm

There are many things that can cause kidney failure in a cat, with age being a huge factor. Was your cat on any other medications? When was your cat diagnosed with CRF? Were there any other symptoms, like seizures, that would indicate an adverse reaction?
