Hey everyone. I am aware I previously posted re: Frontline Tritak, and received some helpful answers.
I didn't mention that Rusty HAD been using this flea med before he was diagnosed with diabetes. So, does that make a difference?
He never experienced any problems with it, so my thoughts are that he should do fine. (Who knows how long he was diabetic before I got him tested?)
Anyway, if you have any thoughts on this, please reply. He's sure biting alot, especially at his tail, and scratching his neck alot.
I already bought it, the day he was dx'd, that's part of my frustration!

If he wasn't allergic to it before, there's no reason why being diabetic would have changed that so he SHOULD be fine. I can only say should because my Regan has a tendency to develop allergies to any spot-on flea med after I've used it on her for a while so I guess as with any other allergy (for humans or animals) there's no absolute guarantee that an allergy won't develop over time, but I'd have thought the risk of him (and you) being bitten which can cause him a lot of discomfort and possibly even anemia if he gets bitten a lot or over an extended period is higher than the risk of him having suddenly become allergic to the Frontline. As he's not on insulin at the moment, there's no risk of the Frontline accidentally being pushed through his skin from giving a shot. And no risk of an interaction between the Frontline and insulin (although I'm told that there is no risk of that anyway). I'd go ahead and use the Frontline.

Thanks, my dear! I thought so. But wanted to make sure.
I am a little afraid about the oils with it, tho. You pet them on in the same place the flea med goes. I just think I'll wait a couple days on the oils, as he gets kinda sick-acting for a day or two, after the Frontline Tritak. Not an allergy, the Vet said, just the medicine going through him.
I'd rather be safe than sorry, when it comes to the oils! :)
Just having a lazy day with Rus, (as usual!) and playing games on my computer.
Happy 4th to you guys!☆
Talk soon.

I would agree with treating for the fleas before you start the oils if they go in the same area. That way you should have a few weeks to give the oils a good tryout before you need to treat him with Frontline again. :) And yes, leaving it a couple of days until the Frontline is no longer concentrated in that one area (I know they say 24 hours, but I usually find the fur where I've put the Frontline still looks a little "medicated" for up to 2 days afterwards on my 2) so that it and the oils don't directly mix would be a good idea I think - I doubt anything would happen from mixing them, but I also doubt Frontline would know about interactions with oils so it's better to be safe.

We've been having a fairly lazy day so far here too - we watched the England v Germany game in the Women's World Cup and now we have to go make sure there aren't any dried up pine needles on the roof ahead of the crazy amount of fireworks there are certain to be tonight!!

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day and that Rusty isn't too worried by any noise from fireworks that might happen near you today! :)

Happy 4th!! :) :bighug:

You must have a lot of homes by yours that do fireworks! I'd guess it's not the pine needles to worry about, cause if a stray one hits your roof, well let's just say THAT will be the culprit!! :(
I rent a duplex, so not my problem. (Just kidding)! Not many around here, just a couple last night. We'll see what tonight brings! Lots of trees around us...
Thanks for always being there for me, and I hope you enjoy the rest of this holiday. :bighug:

I'm not really sure how many houses there are in the area (though it's a lot) but they ALL seem to do fireworks (except for us but then it's not something we're all that interested in)! And we're completely surrounded by pine trees. So of course with the weather being so hot and dry, the trees are dropping needles on the roof all the time - one stray firework could be enough to start them on fire! Though it seems I got away with the easy job...Michael's up on the roof and I only had to move the cars out of the way so they don't get covered in pine needles too!! The fireworks have been going off all week - although we all love the holiday, I'll be glad when the fireworks stop! But it could be worse - at least we're not clearing the roof and moving cars around in the rain! :) :bighug:

Capstar will knock out the adult fleas for 1 day. It can be worth it to give that for a day or two while the spot product works.

Yah, if it were raining, we'd all be complaining about that!
I have Fir trees around, but everything is dry! It's scary this time of year. Especially with all the wild fires going on EVERYWHERE. I'm closer to town now, so it's illegal where I live, but as said, there's always the stray ones, who could care less!
Good luck, and be safe.:)

Thanks BJM! Good idea.
Thought maybe you'd gone MIA! Nice to hear from you.
Hope you and yours are enjoying the day, and be safe.
Happy 4th! ☆

I road-tripped 3+ hours to NE Ohio to do a home visit for Cane Corso Rescue. Very nice couple and family, a few things to do, and they'll be ready for Corso!

I don't know about the legalities of fireworks in the area here - if there are laws, no-one's paying them any attention! But I think we'll be good now - everything's clear and we've made sure the yard is damp in case of anything landing there too. So I think now we're going to lock the doors and ignore the insanity for the rest of the day!!

Ah-ha. Wow you sure do wonderful things for Rescues! I commend you. :)

Hey manxcat, the posts are coming in, and I don't know how to answer them in order!
So you're not going to the potluck? I would be way too hot, if it's outside!
Enjoy...♡

No worries - no-one worries too much about things being answered in order here! :) If you have something you want to refer back to, quoting the post is probably the easiest. :)

And no - we're not going anywhere...it's way too hot to be outside - even just the hour or so of yard work almost killed us in this heat!! Sitting down, playing video games and watching movies seems like a better option! ;)

I start with the oldest post first and work my way through them, unless there is a question or 911 with no responses.

Well, all of us, BJM, manxcat 419 and me can have conversations, PMs, if I'm not mistaken.
Anyway, I'll check in later or tomorrow, but have a good night, you guys!
Melanie and Rusty out...;)
