This morning the first reading with Alphatrak showed 55. We gave high carb food, in 20 minutes measured again, it was 400. The first reading was an error? Can Alphatrak give error results? I don't know what to do, do I give the shot? It never happened..Thank you for input!!

Can you test again now?
The next test result may tell you which of the 2 previous tests was more accurate.
I think 1 of the 2 was a faulty test strip.
The next time you get a test that seems very out of the ordinary, I would test again right away before feeding. I understand you wanting to feed right away when you saw the 55.

Thank you, you are right, and I am learning. The 3rd test result showed 375 and I gave the shot. It was an error, I didn't know Alphatrack can give errors. I will try to look for a human meter with cheaper strips in Canada, to have an extra one just in case.

Please add 375 to the AMPS column in your spreadsheet. You can put the 54 and 414 with some notes in the Remarks column to the right.

Remember that your shot schedule can be adjusted back to your regular shot time in 15 minutes increments per cycle or 30 minutes per day.

I'm glad you tested a third time and he got his insulin.

Try to get at least one test in each PM cycle, as cats tend to go lower at night.
A +2 or +3 in the PM cycle (bedtime test) will help you to determine if it's going to be an active night and more tests will be needed through the PM cycle, or not.

If his dental infection is clearing up, his glucose may go lower.
