Still trying to figure out what is going on with him. Have gotten a couple of curves that have what I think is a reasonable shape (BG drops, then rises back to more-or-less where it was), and not particularly low at the nadir. We’ve increased the dosage a little, but he still seems to be hanging high most of the time. BUT, there was that surprising reading 3/23 amps, which is why I’m being super cautious about increases.
I also note that when we started him on insulin in January, we were mostly only testing 6 hour post-shot numbers (at the vet’s direction) and the numbers we were getting then weren’t substantially different from what we’re getting now with larger insulin doses (or maybe were actually less). So I wonder if we might have gotten him into some sort of “rebound loop”. His numbers just don’t seem to want to come down.
Anybody have experience with this sort of thing, or thoughts on which way to adjust his dose. I’m afraid of too high pushing him into rebound, but hanging where he is right now isn’t getting his numbers down either.
