So, I need opinions. I can get lower numbers from Duncan (even though sometimes the carbs are higher) on the Friskies and he likes them just fine. He really loves Fancy Feast with a passion. His numbers aren't quite as low but still very good with FF. So, is there any difference nutritionally? Is one better than the other?

How much should I care about him being lower on Friskies than FF if they are still good numbers?

Thanks in advance for all the info, hope this thread can compare the two LC wet brands and be of use to everyone here.

There's a ton of info on the Binky list. The goal is to have as few carbs as possible. Some shoot for under 10, and some even lower (like below 8).

Interesting. The Friskies pates all have rice as an ingredient, so I have wondered if the chart is outdated or if there is just so little rice that it doesn't make that big a difference. Personally I aim for the FF or Sophistacat (PetSmart brand, 78 cents for a large can) that are 4% or less (and Merrick's Before Grain as a treat when I can afford it), but if your cat is doing well, I would go with whatever they like and you can afford.

I feed friskees because I have 2 boys and I think it's silly to go through 6 cans of ff when I can do 3 of friskees. I'd use the larger cans if I could figure out a good way to partition out portions. Friskees do have rice so they run higher carb; most are 6-7% carbs as opposed to 3-5% with the ff. I guess it depends on how.carb sensitive your kitty is. I feel like I can get a better price per volume with friskees, but I suspect if Cass needs fewer carbs I'll switch.

i don't think it matters, really. probably just whatever you prefer. go by the carb list and while you don't need to feed zero carbs, staying under 6-8% is great if you can.

one thought, though - with a boy kitty you want to stay away from fish more than once a week. they can cause urinary tract problems in boys.

have you seen http://www.catinfo.org? Dr. Lisa posts here sometimes. she says to think like a cat in nature - they eat birds or rodents. since we don't have mice cat food (and i wonder why not?) i pretty much stick with chicken or turkey. we give beef sometimes, but the mainstay of our cats' diet is chicken.
