Friskies issues, full moon or what?

Is anyone else seeing issues with their cats and Friskies? My cats have been eating much less of the varieties we usually use (and I am throwing a lot more out every day!). I took Chase to the vet this week because he was eating minimal amounts and he is usually a scavenger when everyone else is done. His blood sugars have been low (for him) for a little over a week, even with lower amounts of insulin. Was afraid he was getting pancreatitis again. They were unable to check for kidney infection as he had no urine in the bladder, but all his other test results were normal (which is great for a cat who has been diabetic for about 6 1/2 years). His blood sugars were in the 100s that afternoon, even with vet stress. The vet said to try him off insulin for a couple of days in case he is in remission. The bs that night was 87, then 280 the next a.m., 337 that night and 318 this morning so back on the juice (1 U instead of 1.25-1.5 at his normal 300s levels). Tonight he was 84. No insulin again. Depending on what he is tomorrow, maybe .5 U. Puzzling.

Hmmmm all I feed is friskies to all 11 of mine and I just tested Max today he was 55 and is eating just as much as he always has of all the flavors I feed. But then I feed a wide variety of flavors. Today was Turkey and Giblets. So at least here I haven't seen any difference.

It might just be a stomach bug, or due to the weather change.

I only feed Friskies (Chicken & Liver or Turkey & Giblets) to both my boys, and a while back they went through about a week of not eating well, some vomit, and lots of pudding poo. Both had been in to the vet that week for checkups, so I figured one picked up a bug there and shared it with the other. The following week they were back to their normal hoover-ish selves. This week again, tho, they're not eating as much as fast. They're still cleaning the bowl, but not eating it all at once like usual. They tend to do this around this time of year when the weather gets warmer and they start shedding their winter coats.

Yes I too have seen my guys eating less and throwing out more. I didn't know what was going on. I just figured my guys were just getting more finicky with age.

I thought that mine were just being picky too but now I'm not so sure.....

I'm starting to wonder about the quality. I have noticed it is much drier. Maybe Purina is spending more on the specialty types than good old Friskies.

I have noticed that some of the flavors do seem drier, especially the Turkey and Giblets. I've had to add more water to that one. But other than that my kids are licking their bowls clean. However I do rotate flavors just about everyday so no one gets burned out on a single flavors as one of my civies will not eat the same thing for more than 2 days in a row. I probably feed 7 different flavors in 7 days.

We're seeing it here. Flavors they liked - not so much. A lot more going into the trash and not being eaten. Which flavor, depends - they might eat all of something one day, not another day although they did veto a few flavors that we fed them a lot when Yittle was alive because HE liked them. With 7 (plus 1 foster) you never get unanimous approval - you aim for majority rule. Since we feed them non-fish moist in the morning and fish at night, and we rotate through the flavors (plus there's the kibble for the holdouts since they're all civvie's now) nobody starves. You don't like this meal, eat some kibble or wait till the next meal. Come to think of it though, they're also eating a lot less kibble. If I remember right, this is something they go through when the weather goes warmer and spring shedding season starts. They don't go outside anymore, but their bodies still know what season it is even if we have near-constant temps inside.

Yes I have noticed that they aren't eating all the food either. I tried another brand sophisticat. They loved it at first but the same thing they aren't really touching it. I tried the Friskies special diet chicken flavor meaty bits but just read that the gravy is high in carbs. I haven't checked though. If the food list is current the frsikies is supposed to have higher protein less fat ...... but I think Purina maker of friskies has changed their names on the food so the B & j List is confusing. They changed names to prime filets, meaty bits, etc. So who knows what is going on. If anyone finds out pm me.

Thanx
David

I am still new here, but I believe that the only friskies to use (on diabetic cats) are the ones labeled "classic pate"

I have noticed that mine are eating less also, and they really dont like the supreme supper at all!

Also, if any of you are in the South and near a bilo, Friskies is on sale this week for 40 cents a can.
