Lily seems to be doing well on the Friskies pate, and I've been buying the big cans when possible to save money. So far, though, I've only found three kinds in the big cans--turkey and giblets, ocean whitefish and tuna, and mixed grill. I've been shopping at Petco and Walmart.

Are there any other flavors available in the big cans? Any other chain-type stores I should try?

Thank you!

Hello,

I'd try Target and Petco. I don't know if there are other flavors in the big cans. You might try Friskies web site, there is probably a "contact us" button there somewhere so you can ask. There may be coupons you can print too.

I've also found one called supreme supper, but I think those might be all the flavors? I'm not sure. I buy them at pet supplies plus. Past that I haven't found anymore flavors in big chain-type stores. Would be interested to know if there's more though.

Just an FYI--Walmart and PetSmart both have their own Friskie's type style pates in 13 oz cans (Special Kitty and Grrreat Choice), which are cheaper than Friskies AND they are grain free and lower carb.

Thanks! I'll have to check those out.

Have you used Special Kitty? Do you like it? I'm wary of trying it just because it seems like the "bottom of the barrel" in terms of wet cat food--I guess I think that b/c it's the cheapest wet food at Walmart. That's just my perception though.

I'm really interested in the Petsmart generic. Thanks!

Special Kitty and Grreat Choice have the same quality ingredients as Friskies--mostly meat byproducts, but with no rice. Both labels also have mid-grade quality foods similar to Fancy Feast, where there are some muscle meats as the first ingredient instead of byproducts so they are actually better quality than Friskies. These come in the smaller cans, like Fancy Feast.

If you want to get good pricing on a premium food (something like Wellness or Merricks), check out the store locators on their web sites. You'd be surprised how cheap they can be at local feed and independently owned pet food stores. Many offer discounts if you get them by the case, and Wellness at least has large 12 oz cans that makes it more economical to feed. Plus when you take into account you feed less of premium foods because of the caloric content, it usually even works out being cheaper than feeding something like Fancy Feast, and not too much more than the cheapest canned foods.

I am currently paying $1.06 a can for Merricks at my local Agway. 1.25 a can with a $5 discount coupon every two weeks for having a True Value card. That's actually cheaper for me than Fancy Feast.
