friend in wv needs hands on help.anyone??

does anyone know of any members near elkins wv. have a new found friend that needs some help and a good vet.
has her only testing with urine strips and started cat out at 1.5 units last week and now upped to 2. trying via PM but it is hard

melissa is close but she has been very busy and unable to help. that is the only one I know of

It't be a 4+ hour drive 1 way for me; a bit too much of a commute since the housemate won't help with Gracie.

Suggestions:
Practice pricking on an apple - similar resistance to pricking skin.
Practice on herself using alternate site testing (finger tips hurt more!)

Then, I'd encourage her to jump in after watching videos online.

she gives the shots but vet has her urine testing. she needs to be shown how to ear prick ( i sent videos and all kinds of links). have been pm'ing her but unless there is a hands on and firm voice explaining. do not think it is gonna get done. she is blindly shooting so there are no tests to see how insulin is working. she is on lantus. started on 1.5 and tested again at vets and increased to 2 u

3 hour drive for me. I am going back to purr on the 3rd and 4th, so donna see if she will meet me there with cat and francine deb and I can talk to her and show her what to do... if it is not too late.

I think the hardest part of paying it forward is getting people out of the mindset that their vet is always right and they will not go against them
