Way back in the day, I did a Travel FF and it was one of my favorites, so I'm going to do another one. Hopefully I won't ask the same questions as last time. :lol:

1. Would you ever go on the TV show "Amazing Race"? Why or why not? Who would you bring with you and why?
2. What's the most bizarre local cuisine you have eaten while on a trip (national or international)?
3. Thanks to "Eat Pray Love", the "I" destinations are enjoying the spotlight. Which of these would you most like to visit and why: Italy, India, or Indonesia.
4. Name one locale (a city or a whole state) in the United States that you would never visit, and tell us why not.
5. Do you think that people who travel internationally should make an attempt to learn some phrases in the native tongue, or do you feel that it's unnecessary because everyone speaks English nowadays?
 
how funny, i had just came to pzi isg looking for this and it wasn't there. read a thread and refreshed and ta-da, there it was. LOL!!

remind me what the prize is on that one? most of those shows don't have a prize big enough to get me to do some of the stuff they want you to do.

but if it's enough, yeah, i'd go on it and i'd take my fiance. he's very athletic and probably one of the most competitive people i know :-)

nooooooooooooooo, i don't eat bizarre.

hmmmmmm, italy probably. food & scenery. but maybe india too. nahhh, i'll go with italy

4. Name one locale (a city or a whole state) in the United States that you would never visit, and tell us why not.

ohhhhhh this could be such a loaded question. LOL!! ummmmmm, let's just keep it simple with in southern california there's lots of places this hillbilly gal would not visit. and why? 'cause i'd probably either be raped or killed or both. :lol:

5. Do you think that people who travel internationally should make an attempt to learn some phrases in the native tongue, or do you feel that it's unnecessary because everyone speaks English nowadays?

definitely they should cause it's only right if you ask me.... and based on my own experience and my limited traveling, there's a lottttt of places where finding someone that speaks english is very hard to do.

1. I would go, but who would take care of tomtom? no, sorry I can't do any traveling until my boy leaves the planet unless he goes with me.

2. Like Cindy I don't do bizaar, and am vegetarian except for seafood.

3. Indonesia definetly...OMG did you see the beauty...and it seems so relaxing and calm.

4. I really can not pick a state I would refuse to visit. I suppose I'm not fond of the city of Detroit for no other reason than it does'nt sound appealing.

5. I really don't care if they do or don't...I don't care if visitors here speak english and I personally would enjoy learning phrases in another language weather i'm traveling there or not.

1. I would not go. Although the money is pretty freakin' amazing ($1 million to the winning team), the teams always seem so stressed that it makes me anxious just to watch them. And what I find appealing about it (they get to go to some great places and do some neat stuff) is the travel part, but they don't get to spend enough time anywhere to really say they visited. They're always just running around, doing challenges, getting lost, and hopping back on a plane again 4 hours later.
2. National: grits. I just don't get them. International: llama (in Chile).
3. Italy. Fascinating history, fantastic food, fun people. What more could you ask for?
4. Gary, Indiana. If you've driven through there, you know why. If you haven't, you're better off not knowing. Trust me.
5. People should definitely know enough to get around comfortably and not have to rely on anyone else. YOU should be able to take care of yourself while traveling, no matter where you are, and counting on someone else to speak your language doesn't cut it. Additionally, I think it's very arrogant to assume (or even just hope) that everyone speaks your language.

No, I don't have the energy to keep up! Plus they never actually get to spend time anywhere and actually get to know the place.

Something made from something I couldn't quite understand what they were saying, but might have been from the milk of a cow that had just given birth - was supposed to be a delicacy (pretty much hoping it wasn't something too gorey and placenta-like). Didn't really taste like anything that I recall, and looked milky white. Yemen.

India. Fascinating from a spiritual tradition perspective, lots of country to see, and great vegetarian food (though I doubt I could handle the "authentic" spiciness). Italy a close second for the food & scenery.

I'm game to go most anywhere, but if I can help it I stay out of crime-ridden/gang controlled zones of the bigger cities.

I'd leave it to individual taste. Personally I think it's fun to try to learn some of the language, but if someone doesn't want to, that's their choice. It can be more superficial though - a lot of places I think know tourist English, but that doesn't mean most people are fluent. So if you actually want to connect with people beyond hotel amenities and cabs, a small amount of non-English can go along way in my experience. (For full disclosure, I should admit that I've traveled places and not learned a whit of the local language. Wanted to, but was too spacey/lazy/whatever to actually do it. But I still believe in it in principle. ;-) )

4. Name one locale (a city or a whole state) in the United States that you would never visit, and tell us why not. Camden, NJ #1 I believe in crime rate in the US

Yes, When I went to Mexico, we learned the three most important words. Excuse the spelling. Ba~no =bathroom, cerveza=beer and pasa day la quenta=check please. Teehee
