I went to Walmart as everyone suggested to get the Freeze dried Chicken, instead of other treats.

Our walmart is in the process of becoming a super walmart, so their stock is really lacking.
The only thing I could find was a small container (like a 1/2 lb potato salad deli size).
The freeze dried chicken in it was from CHINA!!!

There is no way I am feeding my cats anything from China.

So I looked at Petsmart, nothing there at all.

I bought a Wellness low carb bag of jerky treats that had no grains, etc.
My cats would not eat it at all.

Not even one bite!

What brand of this freeze dried chicken do you all buy? Is it made in the USA?
Maybe I can find it online.

Lucy, Jazzy, and Sammy LOVE Whole Life treats. Expensive, though.

At my Petsmart there is freeze dried chicken in the dog treats section. Pure Bites or Prime Bites, or something like that. I don't know where it is made. They are harder than the Whole Life.

I get the Pure Bites brand - I believe PetCo has them as well as Petsmart. You have to get them in the dog treat aisle tho. I think they're about $9 for a 3 oz bag. It says "Product of USA" on the package and says its USDA Inspected chicken breast. Muffin won't touch them (no surprise there) but Kibby, Shnookie, and the drooler all go crazy over them.

we get Pure Bites brand for cats at the holistic pet food store...but both petco and petsmart here carry it, too...

i do not recommend Power Patties raw green tripe, however...gross. :-D

Hi Lori,
We use Halo's Liv A Littles. They are expensive, but what do you expect from kitty crack? You can sometimes get coupons if you join Halo's newsletter. I hope you find something the kitties will like.

Three Dog Bakery 'We Pity The Kitty' treats-- salmon and chicken, both from the USA. You can order off of Threedog.com, I would suggest signing up for their tummy rub club email list. They send out coupons frequently enough for 20% off your purchase, free shipping etc.

I also couldn't find anything at the local PetSmart except something made in China -- and I had the same reaction!

Kitty is addicted to Liv-A-Littles, but sometimes I wonder just how much salt is in them. I would like to try one of the holistic brand suggested above!

Lori -

I ordered the Halo liv-a-littles online (usually from Vitacost.com) but you can usually find them in health food stores - I'd check out Mustard Seed or Whole Foods.

Squish Merlin loved Real Food Toppers: http://realfoodtoppers.com/ :thumbup Unlike some brands of freeze dried treats, Real Food Toppers are not hard or dried out or tiny pieces/crumbs. The large pieces of chicken or salmon (I've had pieces that were 2 inches long by 1 inch wide and pretty chunky) are easily broken into smaller pieces and there's always a good amount of powder at the bottom of the bag for sprinkling on top of food. PetFoodDirect.com and OnlyNaturalPet.com sells this brand. I buy it from a local small pet store. Real Food Toppers are made in the US using ingredients sourced inthe US.

Have you seen the list of popular low carb treats? viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9172

Halo Liv-A-Littles is a popular brand of freeze dried treats that many people here use.

Stella and Chewy's has a freeze dried treat: http://stellaandchewys.com/kisses.html Never tried this one, though.

I'm really new at this.
I found freeze dried chicken pieces at PetSmart. They were in the cat food section, next to some freeze dried shrimp. :) (I'm stickin' with the chicken.)

They're called Beefeaters or Meateaters, or something like that. A fairly good-sized container was only about $4 or so.

I did find the freeze dried chicken at petsmart, BUT it was from China.......
I do not feel comfortable with feeding anything from China to my kitties.
