I had Vinnie fitted with the freestyle libre yesterday so we can get a better handle on his cycles. I was told to basically ignore the readings for the first 12 hours while it "warms up" so I did. However today (16-20 hours later), it seems to be reading over 100 points higher than the blood glucose meter (i.e. blood glucose said 299, freestyle libre said HI which means over 400; later blood glucose said 165 and Libre said 313). Has anyone had this issue? Is there a fix for it? Or do I need to give it more time to warm up?

I never saw difference that large. He is my comparison. Maybe problem with you metter. Is it coded correctly if it is a coded meter/strip?

The Nova Max is the meter I'm using and I've checked it with control solution and with my own blood and it seems to be very accurate. It also matches the vet's numbers. Definitely the Libre that is off. Do you know if there's a way to fix it? I tried calling them but they had me on hold forever.

Could just be a wonky Libre. They will send you another one for free if you report the issue. I love the Libre but it's very hard to rely on it as so many have issues or die quickly.

Planning to call customer support today. I love the idea of this thing to get a better handle on his cycles but if the numbers are completely wrong, it's pointless

@Larry and Kitties I actually just stumbled onto your super informative video for placing the libre so I can see where it is. It seems like yours is a bit off-center but I think Vinnie's is closer to the center. Do you think that makes a difference?

The vet placed Vinnie's between his shoulder blades and most photos I see have it on their side so I'm wondering if it's the placement.

You really want it off center. You do ot want it i an area the moves much when the cat moves. If too close to the spine it may get close to the spline when the cat moves.
