Hello all - My cat, Boy, was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and when i went to the drug store to get a glucose monitor I found that the one manufactured by Bayer was free!! With 10 test strips and 10 lancets. This at Bartells Drug store in Seattle WA. It seems like an excellent marketing plan on the part of Bayer since it seems that the real expense is the strips if you're going to do frequent testing. But if you're tight for funds it certainly can't hurt to get started for free.

I see a few posts that there are other options for getting free monitors etc - but you might check your local drug store if you need one to see if they have a similar item.

The free ones are good to have on hand in case your main meter breaks or the battery dies. I try to keep a couple on hand. So, for those of you who don't use Bayer, it's still good to get the free one as a back up.

Never know when you're going to drop your meter in the water bowl by mistake

Thank you for letting us know about the deal.

Here's another trick they use.when I first bought my freestyle lite the test strips were a little under a hundred dollars-bad enough. Then they "improved" the test strips and also improved the price about twenty percent. I now have a collection of three meters....the way things dissapear in my house maybe that is a good thing! LOL
