Day 3 of Fred having upset tummy ( diarrhea). I'm thinking bad batch of Friskies Poultry Favorites Variety pack from Target. Sku ends with 29257 8. Anyone else having problems? Do I stop all food for now? I leave the faucet dripping so he has water. He's on the balcony chatting with birds now. BG is ok. (Remission 15 months)

He ate last night and this morning but his BM is just bloody mucous today. I'm communicating with a friend who works at my vets.

Took sample to vet. They said they couldn't get much done with the small sample but it was negative for parasites. Taking him in tomorrow. He's laying next to me, purring. That's always a good sign. But he hasn't been eating today. He did drink water. Prayers appreciated. Good night y'all.

I see Fred has had a bout of pancreatitis in the past. For peace of mind I'd suggest getting the vet to run pancreatitis and B12/folate tests when you're there today. If the vet offers SNAP fPL testing in-house you'd get a yes/no answer straight away.

On the lack of interest in food here's a very helpful resource on nausea/appetite problems and treatments:

Nausea & appetite problems - symptoms and treatments

As you no doubt know well, reluctance to eat needs to be tackled head-on. If nausea is an issue Cerenia can work quickly but ondansetron is in my experience more effective overall; the latter can take a day or two to show full benefit but the Cerenia can assist in the meantime. Also ask the vet whether slippery elm bark might help Fred; it is soothing to the digestive tract.

Sending a bucketload of prayers for Fred to feel better very soon.

Fred is in the hospital with acute pancreatitis probably brought on by a bad batch of Friskies. He's getting IV fluids, pain med etc. prayers appreciated. We've been here before. Never switching from Fancy Feast.

I am so sorry to hear that your Fred has pancreatitis and especially if it could have been brought on by the Friskies.

Sending prayers and healing vines for Fred to feel better quickly.

Thank you all for the love and support. I d k if it was the Friskies, for certain, but the change from Fancy Feast to Friskies coincided with this event. I've emailed Purina ( no response) and took all the Friskies back to Target and went to United and got Fancy Feast. Not switching again.

I'm sorry to learn that Fred is in hospital. You've said he's experienced pancreatitis before so at least you have some idea of what to expect. Crossing fingers he gets well soon.

Be sure to keep us updated. It's so hard being away from our little ones, especially when they're poorly. It is good to know that Fred's in good and caring hands.

Will be keeping you both in my prayers.

Poor baby not feeling well. It's hard being away from them when they are sick. He needs to be where he is now.

I feel the same way about FF as you do about Friskies. It seems when I started using FF Smokey had a p'titis episode. So I won't use it again.

Day 3 : Fred was sedated last night so they could replace his IV line that had gotten crimped and they gave him a partial bath because he had an accident. He didn't eat anything yesterday. But doc says being on fluids is probably better on the pancreas right now that solid food, but he will need to eat soon. He's very cranky which is why they had to sedate him. He even growled at me. He hates that place. The damn dogs bark day and night. I want him to get better and come home. I've slept very little. He's not beside me. Thank you all for the love and prayers. Keep em coming please. Hope y'all are well.
Prayers for the east coast.

(((Jayme and Fred)))

Praying for you both round the clock.

It's so hard having to leave our little ones somewhere they don't want to be but where they need to be to get medical help. I feel for you very deeply ...

If there's any way I can help just let me know.

Jayme, I just saw your post on Justyn's thread and I thought these documents might be helpful to you:

IDEXX Pancreatitis Treatment Guidelines

Nausea, Vomiting and Appetite Problems - symptoms and treatments

When you visit try to see if you can coax Fred to eat a little bit from your hand. Mush up the food a good bit so all he has to do is lick it. Even if you can only get a tiny amount at a time eaten it can help break the nausea cycle. If any food makes Fred uncomfy don't give any more of it. Maybe try bringing in some home poached chicken minced up very finely and some of the watery broth, too?

More prayers on the way to you.

Whatever it takes to get peace of mind and keep Fred safe, Jayme.

With it being the weekend if you can get them to send Fred home with anti-nausea, appetite stimulant and pain meds it would be a very, very good idea.

Glad your kitty is home! I hope he continues to heal and is back to himself in no time!
Has anyone else had problems with this food? I have the same kind with the same SKU numbers. :nailbiting: I feed it to my non-diabetic cat, Kitty. He's eating and acting normal and he's 3 cans into the case. How quick did Fred's symptoms come on? My Kitty-cow is the pickiest fat cat I've ever met. He's down to 17.5 pounds but he won't eat very many kinds of wet food. I just recently got him off dry.
Just trying to figure out if I should return them or if there's a different number on the case to see if they are from the same batch? I got mine at Walmart in NorthEast Pennsylvania, Friday 10/7/16.
