Freckles/Judy-02/20 - 184@+10.25, 207@+11, PMPS191 - shot 6u Levemir, 230@+2.25

Happy Lev day 1. The Lantus depot is depleting, Levemir's is building up. Since Lev's onset is typically around +4, and nadir typical +8, tests around then are good to get. Of course, you've already heard me say my girl liked to be fashionably late rather than typical.

Just an FYI, acromegalic and IAA cats are rule breakers. :p Neko's fav nadir time on Lev was between +9 and +12, though she could go 4-5 hours up and down from there.

Glad you shot the 6 units with those blues showing up. Keep at this dose at least another day, unless she goes low of course.

Sounds good. It's not really fair to judge this first dose of Levemir because of the depot just building - I was thinking of increasing but decided against it.

I still can't believe she has acromegaly. IAA yes, acro no. So, if acro is the cause of the diabetes, she's had acromegaly since at least last July-August. That's when I'm thinking the first signs of the diabetes showed up.

I'm well versed in the stages of grief... so here I am in the denial stage!

Neko had her first sign of acromegaly (teary eye) at least 7 months before her diabetes diagnosis. All hind sight. :( I hear from a number of members that their cat's voice has changed or breathing/snoring happened well before diabetese. There have also been a few cases of acromegalic cats that were not yet diabetic. Plus there are acrocats that go in remission, and come back. Most often it's the diabetes that triggers people to even think of testing. Think of all the low dose acros that are out there but not known. The study that showed 1 in 4 diabetics are acro had a range in dose from 1 unit to 30 units, with an average of 7 units dose. We only suggest testing when people get to 6 units, though the odd one tests earlier and we see a smaller dose. Now you know what you are dealing with. Many don't.:bighug:
