Sigh.... After a good +6 reading this afternoon, I thought we were through the worst. But no. It's been 3 days now. How much longer can he bounce for?

Hmmm..... Has anything else changed in Frankie's routine, Sue? Different food? Could he have snaffled some high carb food from somewhere....?

Here is your previous post, but in the Health forum. And here is the last post in the L&L forum. When last you posted here, Julie asked whether you've decide whether you'd like to follow the Tight Regulation (TR) protocol or the Start Low, Go Slow (SLGS) method. It's important for us to know which you'd like to pursue, as the length of time doses are held and the point at which reductions are earned is different between the two. And knowing which dosing method helps us help you better.

I see you are giving 4 units now. It would be good to hold that to see what the dose can do as Lantus likes consistent dosing. With TR doses are held for 3 days (except in the case of a failed reduction), with SLGS hold for one week.

Another example of the differences would be what happens after that lovely cycle on May 3rd. He got as low as 77 (on the AlphaTrak) which would mean holding the dose if on TR, and a .25U reduction if on SLGS.

ETA: Bounces can last 6 cycles. Maybe tomorrow he will be done, but it could also be a failed reduction.

There is no chance he got any high carb food. He can't do the stairs any more and the only food upstairs is low carb. To be honest, most of the other cats food has appeared on the updated uk food list of low carbs anyway. No other changes apart from the sitter coming at lunch times but he's met her before and is really chilled anyway. I've got no idea which protocol to go for. I would like to say TR but I work full time so not possible so I suppose it would have to be SLGS. If the reduction is 0.25 why was I told to go down one unit and how the heck do you go down 0.25 with those syringes???

We have many members here who work full time and do TR. Libby posted some tips on the first Sticky Is TR possible with a full time job?
Which syringes are you using? Are they ones with 1/2 unit markings? There are some pictures of the smaller doses on the New to the Group Sticky.

It was suggested to go down one unit so that you could gather some mid cycle data on what is happening at 4 units. It's much easier to go up if the dose is too low, than to worry about too much insulin and the depot. I was just using the .25U reduction as an example of what you would do if you had been following TR all along. Sorry about the confusion.

I have seen the post about TR with a full time job but I leave home right after the morning dose. The sitter comes at lunch time so that would roughly be a +6 test and then the evenings I could do. Would that be ok to do things that way so there is not much morning data? If so, then TR is the way I would prefer to go.
