My vet has not been supportive of feeding semi-raw very low carb, home testing, or my controlling of Kitten's insulin dosage from day to day. I contacted a local vet I'd dealt with before and I thought might be onboard with everything I'm doing

From email:

Wow! I think you have been doing an awesome job with testing and your insulin dose. Nice spreadsheet! You are not quite there yet on your insulin dose. The food is fine. I looked at Dr. Piersons website and I agree with most of what she has on there. She certainly sounds very passionate.Looking at your spreadsheet I am wondering if your cat is going into remission. Statistically, if you manage it right you have a 50% chance that your cat will go into remission and be normal in the first 6 months of a diabetes diagnosis. We should talk.

Yay!

And I just have to give credit to Barbara, she just happened to tell me about a vet that had just moved practices that might be promising so I went and looked, and though I'm bad with names I remember faces. Big coincidence!

Wow, he has already called me and wants me to come in an hour sans cat! Updates to follow hopefully!

It sounds like you guys are on the right path now, working WITH a vet.

I hope your visit goes well, and can focus completely on Kitten's health and possible OTJ.
It is sounding alot like you may have converted a vet with all of your positive actions, and he will hopefully share the info from Dr.Lisa's site, plus encourage others to do home testing and recording the numbers in a spreadsheet for him to access.

OMG, this vet reviewed Kitten's records and talked to me for a full hour then REFUSED TO CHARGE ME!?!?

And more good news, he doesn't think based on her presentation, tests, and current glucose levels and the fact that she crashed on 1U that she is truely diabetic, just has pancreatitis (could be some other syndrome causing this, but says that's nothing to tackle until we see how she does the next couple weeks). Thinks we will see the same readings without the "gerbil" doses of insulin, so as of now she is OTJ! Can I actually claim OTJ if she's not really diabetic?
