Hello everyone:
My OTJ Pudge is doing well, but I have several questions:
1. Pudge refuses to eat raw food prepared by me, my question concerns the broader issue of safety of raw chicken. Per studies, raw chicken is supposed to be bad for humans; additionally, BBC recently carried an article that rinsing raw chicken spreads illness viruses in the resulting droplets of water. Comments, please. I'll try again with Pudge, but even quite gradual switch over does not appear to work.
2. Pudge will be 15 yrs old next winter, so I tried feeding him Friskies Special Diet pate (turkey or chicken flavors) due to the low phosphorus. He ended up with diarrhea. I noticed some discoloration on the edges of the food as well as shrinkage, but it had an effective date of over a year in the future. Could it be poor storage? I purchase mostly through Amazon, though have also tried wag.com - believe that's also an Amazon company.
3. Switched back to Fancy Feast classics. Pudge got tired of Wellness - never liked it much - as well, as Merricks. Pudge is a grazer. He's on his 2nd remission (since May 2013) and it concerns me when he gets diarrhea (none now) or stops eating (eats FF fine) because those were the symptoms when he went out of his 1st remission.
General info: first remission on ProZinc, 2nd after a very brief round of Levemir. My fingers don't hit the keyboard with an even touch. Apologies for errors, as well as, lack of SS. All comments will be gratefully received.
Best wishes,
Sophie (and Pudge)
