Hi Everyone,
Lucifer has been doing great with his reads. He’s around a 70 every Monday. Ever since the food change (Weruva) he’s been great. I have been monitoring weight since the food change and initially he went from 13 lbs to 12 and has stayed there. However he seems very hungry he is have either a 5.5 ounce or 6 ounce Weruva can twice a day.

I also noticed he looks skinnier in the back like by his hind legs looks almost slightly indented, but he hasn’t lost any weight so I don’t know why that would be? Ever since his sugar levels have been good he’s active and playing and doing well.

Is there something I could give him around lunch time since he seems so hungry? Like maybe half a 3 oz can or something? I don’t want to mess his sugar up and set him back but I feel bad he seems so hungry.

Yes I would offer one or two low carb snacks during both cycles if I were you. It won’t mess up the BG.
Most of us with diabetic kitties offer snacks during the cycles. When my Sheba was in remission I always fed her a low carb snack at lunchtime and before bed. She was much happier and content.
I feed my non diabetic cats 4 times a day. I find they are much more content and never ask me for food at other times unless I am eating cheese which one of them loves!

Thank you so much for the reply I appreciate any help. Do you have any suggestions for snacks or would you suggest some of the Weruva? How cute! I think my cats are the only cats that don’t like cheese lol.

I would give low carb food for the snacks. They are mini meals really so I think it is best to use the food you normally feed.
When Sheba was first diagnosed and I had not found the forum, I was only feeding two meals a day and she was constantly in the kitchen asking for food. Once I added the snacks she was much more content.
Please keeping asking as many questions as you need. We are happy to help.

@Bron and Sheba (GA) thank you! That’s how Louf is he’s always meowing in the kitchen or he’ll sit next to me and paw me and meow lol.

We always used to dry feed and the bowls were just out so we’re still adjusting to all wet food and timed feeding. I will try snacks today for him.

Good to see you around Ashley! and I'm glad Lou is still rocking remission. You test weekly? They say a once-a-month BG test is good enough for a diet-controlled diabetic feline but of course up to you if you want to test more often.

We haven't checked Hendrick since July 18 so today is pokey day. I hope I can remember how to do it right! and that he hasn't forgotten how to sit still for me....

Hey! @Hendrick Cuddleclaw Good to see you around too. I’m so happy for Hendrick. I do test weekly but recently was considering switching to monthly since he’s been doing so good. I’m just a paranoid cat mom lol. I wishing you best of luck with his pokey. I will tell you my Louf fights me every Monday now that it’s not daily lol. It’s like wrestling an alligator haha. As far as feeding how often do you feed with Hendrick? I’m going to try incorporating those snacks today for Louf. He just seems so hungry, and I may just be crazy but the back of him looks skinnier but he’s the same weight so I dunno.

Probably 4 times a day give or take. We still do a main meal at what used to be shot-time (6:30am/pm) but also smaller meals mid-morning and mid-afternoon, usually.

I am so happy to hear that Lucifer seems more content. You might just have to adjust the snacks slightly to satisfy him.
I remember how relieved I was when Sheba stopped crying for food all day.
