My civvie cats eat Fancy Feast Chunky Chicken and Turkey. Are there any other cheap brands that make any thing similar to these? They are eating me out of house and home(2 cases) a week.

I also second the Friskies Pâtés. I had two kittens and couldn't afford the FF for the amount they were eating. the Friskies Special Diet pâtés are lower in carb (5%) vs. the regular Friskies (8%), so if you can find those, that's what I use.

Friskies pates, in 13 oz can is about $0.78 each @ Columbus, OH WalMart.

Are you looking for a chunkier texture than the pates, but still low carb?

I made up this list some months ago. Maybe you can find something on this list that is less expensive, but still has the chunky style you are looking for. I'm not sure on the carb content on these, so try and be sure to still BG test to see if they raise the BG levels for your sugarkitty.
Chunky style foods, low carb we think
1. Fancy Feast chunky turkey, chunky chicken; Fancy Feast flaked style.
2. Nature's Variety is more chunky like the Merrick's or the FF Chunky.
3. Weruva's Paw Lickin' Chicken
4. Avoderm Chicken Chunks in Gravy
5. Stella and Chewys freeze dried dinner
6. Merrick Cowboy Cookout is somewhat chunky and low carb
7. Tiki Cat for the chunks, albeit pricey
8. wellness sells a chunk style brand in chicken and turkey in a minced, cubed and sliced styles. Low carb though?
9. Merrick Grammy's Pot Pie is pretty chunky.
10. Pro Plan turkey is a mince, so it has some texture

If your cat's don't like the pate style, try these tips.
1. Mix water into the pate, half a can up to a full can to make it between applesauce and soup consistency. Many cats like this because it's like eating a 'gravy' style food, like the chunky styles.

2. Slowly mix a tiny bit of the pate into the chunkier food, maybe only a teaspoon or so. Gradually increase the pate, decrease the chunky until you have them eating all pate style food. This can take time, patience and persistence. You may take 2 steps forward and 1 step back, but gradually transition your cats to a different style of food.
