Hello,

My cat Julia was diagnosed with diabetes in January this year. We were lucky because after a few months she went in remission. She is still on Hills m/d, which i am now reading is not that good for her. Also recently she stopped eating that much, she eats too little and i think it is because she does not like the food anymore. I am not sure why. Anyhow i am very nervous about changing the food because i am afraid her diabetes will start acting up again. Does anybody have any experiences with that? Also i am thinking of feeding her with
Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets Feline Diabetes Management chicken. The carbs should be ok, but i am not certain if it is good food. Or if you have any recommendations for quality food. I am from Europe, so some that you mention i can`t get in my country. Anyway i would really appreciate some help and guidance.
Thank you very much in advance!

Best regards,
Sara

Hi! Check out the food charts which are listed at the top of the health forum and under Health links. You can use these to help choose a healthy food for kitty. Most people here would recommend a low carb (under 10 percent) canned food. Prescription foods are usually not very high quality and crazy expensive. They really aren’t the best. Many people here feed fancy feast. I use Redbarn and tiki cat, which are pricey but good quality and very low carb.

If you can’t find these brands in Europe, try editing your title to ask specifically for European brands.

Hello,
Thank you very much. I came across the list of food available in UK yesterday and the food listed on it, is much more reachable in my country, it was very helpful.
Thanks again!
