Hey there!
I’m currently feeding Mumf Animonda Integra Protect for Diabetes. I know that it’s not necessary to buy diabetes specific cat food but this food is very good (unlike that horrible DM prescription food) and he absolutely loves it. Their website says that you should use it for six months or so. It doesn’t state a reason, I’m trying to find out why. Anyway, assuming that at some point I will need to switch cat foods I was wondering if anyone knows of any good food that might be similar and is available in Europe.

My sugar cat is picky and so I’m glad to have found something he loves. I figure it might be good to have an alternative because my recent order was incomplete - apparently due to the pandemic they’re having trouble restocking.
Thanks for the help!

Hi,
Since you are in Germany you may well have many suitable foods available, for example from Zooplus.
Is it the texture of the Animonda food that Mumf likes? And if so, what is the texture like? Pate? In jelly?

I'll have a look at the details for the Animonda, but, like you, I don't see why using it should be time limited... That's puzzling...

BTW, here's a list of low carb UK foods, but the ones at the beginning of the list are from Zooplus and so should be available to you also. In fact, you probably have many more foods available than we have here in the UK. (Brexit has really limited what we can get now...):

And here's the link to a carb calculator (to calculate the 'percentage of calories from carbs') for any foods that aren't on the list:

Had a look at the product on the website and can't see anything obvious in the ingredients that would mean this food can only be fed for a limited time. ...But I do wonder if it 'may' be something to do with the mineral composition (only because the info mentions a specific balance that may help prevent urinary stones/crystals).

I'm guessing that maybe you are contacting them to ask about this directly...?
If you haven't done so yet their contact page is linked below:

Hey Elizabeth, thank you so much. :)
I’m going to have a look and see if maybe I can order some samples for him to try. I think he just really likes also the taste of the Animonda. It’s not pate but a bit of jelly and has nice meaty intestin-y bits in it, lol. But it also contains a bit of drinking water so it’s nice and juicy. I had tried Catessy before and that is also low carb and it has a similar.. texture but he absolutely hates it and looks at me like I’ve just offended him when I try to feed him that.
