? Food for Diabetic kitties

Hello - what do you feed your diabetic kitty? The vet put Jett on Royal Canin Glycobalance when he was hospitalized for pancreatitis. He is eating it, but I have always hated the crappy ingredients in the prescription food. I'd prefer to feed him a more wholesome food without grains and carbs. He was eating Ziwipeak and Weruva canned before the hospitalization. Any suggestions?

Hi Patti, there are some Ziwipeak flavors listed as low carb on Dr. Pierson's list at catinfo.org (sorry I don't have the link). Also, I just recently checked out carbs, calories etc on Weruva's website to find food for my civvie. A lot of Weruva's canned flavors are low carb, so you may be able to feed Jett some that he's already used to .

Just be careful to read the ingredient list. I fed Bunny weruva's paw lickin' chicken thinking it was low carb only to have his bg levels go sky high. Their website says it's very low carb, but if you read the ingredient list, potato starch is listed. I believe others have had a similar experience.
