Prior to Miles' illness and subsequent diabetes diagnosis, he ate primarily Purina One, True Instinct, grain-free dry food. Occasionally, I'd feed him a can of Fancy Feast, Gravy Lovers, Salmon wet food which he adores.
Since the onset of his diabetes, ALL he'll eat is the Fancy Feast canned. I know it's not good for him, far too high in carbs. I've tried to transition him very gradually to Purina DM wet food by adding a tiny portion to the Fancy Feast. He absolutely refuses it! He's lost close to 2 lbs in the last month so I'm afraid to force the issue. But I also know the high carb food is just exacerbating his diabetes. Also, it's not safe to administer the insulin without food in his stomach? What to do?!
Are there any over the counter wet foods I can try that are lower carb? I'm in the Pacific NW, Wa state.
